Well, is it a Stackpole story? In that case, if the Ejected Pilot is a canon Named Character, when he/she ejects, their Mech will fall over and hit the cockpit of the Mist Lynx as it comes in to try and shoot the ejecting pilot, because that's what Clans do in THIS particular story, and the falling Mech will hit the cockpit JUST right to cause a fusion reactor overload that not only kills the Mist Lynx but also the Cluster of Mechs just behind the ridge behind the Mist Lynx!

Not a Stackpole story, well, that ejected pilot is going to be picked up and made a Bondsman, probably have a very boring life cleaning toilets until they annoy an Elemental and get their skull crushed.

Mist Lynx is towering over pilot....asks politely if that pilot want to become a bondsman
pilot shout - something about Mist Lynx pilots mom - and something stupid like "fight me like a man" or such empty phrases
Mist Lynx uses his Series IX Gattling Machine Gun to turn the pilot into goulash
"I did - man annihilate vermin"
