The same is true for my X-5. I shouldn't do well in it or make money, but I just do for some bizarre reason. If the Cicadas ever get a weapon geo pass and the X-5 gets 4 or 6 tubes instead of just 2, it will really be a monster of a backstabber.
Finally, before the MG nerf, the Ember was like having my own C-bill mint in my mechbay. RIP little guy. You are missed.
On my "to buy" list are a Sparky and Huginn. They look like they're right up my alley.
Edit Note: Builds on my Enforcer and X-5 are:
Enforcer - XL300, 1 LBX-10 with 3 tons of ammo, 3 medium pulse. Simple but fun
X-5 - XL 300, 4 MLs, 2 SRM4s with 2 tons of ammo.

I use same build, though with a smaller engine. Cannot wait for them to put in spread reduction on that Enforcer.

I will be such a happy camper as well, especially if they come to their senses and increase it to at least 25%

I would love to reccomend it but jagers are incredibly fragile with xl. If you like Sniping and support fire, their arm hardpoints can't be beat. The underslung arms of other mechs don't give you the clearance you need to fire at any position.
My Firebrand currently has 2xAC5 & 6xML. I ran it 2xAC5, 2xERLL before the Quirkining changed everything. Now that build is obsolete.

I haven't hauled mine out since the geometry pass, been working on the Resistance mechs instead. Why is it bad?

I have developed a soft spot for the ENF-5D( R ). I run it much like you do. Since the LBs are garbage beyond 250, but since the MPLs are 220m (w/out range module), there's a nice synergy there. Get in close on the flank or rear and pour fire. When the back or side is open, let that autoshotty work its magic. Doomcrows fear this build.
Huginn is aces. Back when the Enber was the bomb I speculated in HHoD's private forums that the Huginn would challenge it, I was roundly laughed at, but I stuck to that sucker regardless and after the quirks, its a beast.

let's see by class:
- light: Hugginn - without a doubt the strongest at the moment, just because that helluva DPS.
- medium: already said, YLW, Cent-AH and the Hunchies. Comes down to personal preference
- heavy: Ilya - I like all my heavy heros but the Ilya is the money machine. If you want something done, take that one.
- Assault: King Crab - while many say the misery is the goto, I haven't seen a build that shows it superiority. King crab with dual gauss and dual PPC will let you swim in cbills. Cheesy work horse but excellent mech.

No not best as in "money maker" but best as in what you think is the best... justification is up to you.

Yeah well that's what the 4R is for I guess. But that one seems to be finding a place in the comp games right now.

Honestly, all the Founders variants are still pretty solid, sans maybe the Jenner. Yen-Lo has been solid since it's release. The Loyalty Crab, Atlas[which I basically run as an atlas D] and Cn9 are decent, save for the CN9's reliance on ammo.

I've switched to AC5 after the Quirkening Vol. 3, though I haven't played too much yet. I don't know if it's necessarily better. I just know I absolutely lose my sanity in a fit of rage every time I turn a corner to blast an assault mech in the face, and all three UAC5's jam on the second shot.
@OP, I run AC20 and MPL or LL on my YLW. The MPL is better for brawling, the LL is there to have some kind of firepower outside 300 meter range.
I run 2xSRM4 and 4MGs on the Huginn. Because whatever stupidity PGI inflicts on my MGs, I'm still going to use them. It's just the way I was raised.

Battlemaster: BLR-1G(P)
Battlemaster: HellSlinger
Griffin: GRF-1N(P)
I jump in one of those three when I just want to do allot of damage and create a ton of chaos. I've always liked the battlemaster and my builds can do a ton of sustained damage. Same with the griffin, it was no go-to mech for making money for the longest time.
I also recently added the Ember and Hugginn. Ember is running well, can't find a single fault with firestarters. I'm still not as effective with the hugginn.

Other standouts for me are the sparky and the thunderbolt 5S(P).
