Argh, while this event seems ideal it happens right in a weekend in which I have very little free time.

And I just decided I wanted a new Stormcrow too.

Oh well, better luck next time I guess.

Is 80 points hard to get? (I don't tend to look at the points at the end of CW matches, so I have no way of gauging.)

No more difficult than getting 30pts in the last giveaway. ;)

Hm... shouldn't we get some example screens of what to do when we're claiming the prize?

This is different from other events where we never got a "choice of prize".

lol, uhh right. I probably get 80pts in less than half as a pug for CW matches. Where probably 80% of matches in regular pug drops are over 30pts. This doesn't count the light rushes where nobody gets over 80pts. I see light rushes being done in CW, and myself and probably 95% of the pugs will not be doing this challenge over the weekend.

So top clans should decide if they want more players to experience CW. Or just run your light rush, thereby eliminating pugs from drops and enjoying the 10-20% of playerbase that actually groups up.

Hahahahahahaha, no thanks. I'll stick with Heroes of the Storm this weekend. No need to bash my head against those 12-mans just for a mech.

Did they add a pug queue for this event, or is it still seal-clubbing? Pug drops vs organized groups, pass.

This should see a rise in CW players at least for the duration of the event.

I am going to salvage a Ryoken from you dang clammers. Watch out.

Exempting light-rushes... I have never NOT gotten 80 points... Actually, I don't think I've ever had a match where I didn't get twice that XD And I'm by no means an expert player...

The key to getting a high score in CW... is Gauss rifles :P On every mech. Hell, I take a Raven 4X with a gauss rifle and 30 rounds. (It's way more effective than you might think. The raven 4X has a 30% ballistic range buff, so with the 12% module, you can basically hit anything that renders in the game.) Sit back, and snipe away! Poke every mech you can. Those assists really stack up the points. And if you're good with a Gauss, you'll rack up 800 damage in no time. (800 damage = 80 points automatically)

ERLLs, and (ER)PPCs are also good... whatever floats your boat. Just only bring LRMs as a support weapon, not a main weapon. You may, or may not get to ever use them. Though, I've gotten pretty good at dumb-firing them and chipping away at armor.

How is match score totaled. It has never been clear to me. PGI should have a place that shows the break down so people know what they need to earn stuff.

The easiest way to get 80 points is to deal 800 damage in a CW match. It's further accelerated with assists (spotting and otherwise) and kills.

This averages about 200 damage per mech you bring.

No.
No event could make me play CW.
When the Lucky Charms event was on, I didn't.
I didn't during previous events.
Even a free Mech cannot make me play.
I will thank you for emptying the Ususal Queue for a bit, fewer players there might make better matches.

I'm pretty sure you can sell them. And only the Champion Thunderbutt has the 30% XP buff. The Crow is just a regular old Crow without any buffs.

I really wish they'd consider lowering the amount or extending the time. These challenges aren't hard (80 points is easy to get in a normal game), they are just incredibly time consuming. The bare minimum time commitment is 10 hours. Once you add on the time it takes to actually find and build a game its easily 15+! The only people that are going to grind that much already have a ton of time and money put in and as a lot of the posts show, already have the award mechs.

Let me try to put it in terms PGI actually care about. I've been having a blast with the Raven. I like it so much I bought two more and will probably grab a few mech bays so I can keep them. That's money they wouldn't have received if I never had a chance to play it in the first place. They could use this opportunity to create a fun and actual challenge as well as planting the seeds for further purchases. Instead its just another uninspired grind where a third of the players don't have time, another third won't put up with the hassle and the other third are already so invested they will probably just sell the thing.
