Ok, I heard a wierd rumor about PGI adding elemental points as a consumable to MWO just for clans. Anyone else hear anything about this?

Not that I have heard. I'm not sure how it would work either. To be fair, the IS side would need something equivalent...vehicles maybe?

Either war, I'm not sure I could see how it would work. Maybe a wave of Elementals running and hopping from one end of the map to the other in a single pass shooting at enemy mechs as they go?

This seems like something they would use as an excuse to justify Flamers being useless and MGs being mediocre.

A.I. Programming, not very good. They'd probably be like turrets; you deploy it and elementals deploy along such areas, like a track, they'd probably run on. Mostly around hills and little humps obviously, and a medium laser can take one out even if you miss half of the damage on it. Probably be useful for Assaults, when lights surround an assault, it can pop a elemental consumable and they'd have deadly accuracy and damage.

Long..long time ago I suggested using Elemental / battle armor as a consumable...

My suggestion was to call them in like arty and hot-drop them via transport and they would work like an area suppression weapon. When an enemy mech wanders into the suppressed area they would be set-upon by them.

In order for this to not be an OP consumable they would need to be able to shook loose via abrupt movement and only carry maybe 8 health.

IMHO it would be pretty sweet to see some Atlas wander into a "hot-spot" and be swarmed with a star of armor like gnats in the midst of summer! ^_^

And like that, we've gone full MOBA with elementals as creeps.

It has been suggested before - I know I had done that once as a clan-only alternative to either the artillery strike or air strike. Probably the former, as artillery is far more likely to be removed in batchall than aerospace support, though both would likely be pared away to just dropping in mechs. Elementals make more lore-sense for the Clanners, and it would be an interesting feel to battles.

How they could be implemented is another story.

Eh, what you want is B-Pods, specifically designed to give battle armour the middle finger. Unfortunately, it doesn't come out till '68 via the Clan-Wolf-in-Exile. A-pods just get laughed at by elementals.

Elementals as a consumable has been an idea I have been proposing to PGI for a long time now.

Here is my most recent post about it in August 2014:
http://mwomercs.com/...n-arty-strikes/

My idea of using them as consumables bagan in April of 2013:
http://mwomercs.com/...63#entry2264163

And of course Infantry and Armor consumables got the whole thing started for me in March of 2013:
http://mwomercs.com/...ntry-and-armor/

Here are the public responses I have seen so far, both from 2014:

The 'minefield Elemental' consumable sounds awesome.

You drop it at a spot without any red smoke, some enemy wanders into it, elementals spawn, swarm, do arty like damage, then disappear. Extra points if you can shoot them (flamers and MGs do bonus damage).

Though id like something more substantial than that, but its a good place to start.

You thought the Locust glued to your arse was a pain? Wait until a Toad latches on and rips out a knee joint.

There's a poll for the idea here:
http://mwomercs.com/...__fromsearch__1

Last I heard, PGI was seriously interested in the idea, may have even mentioned the idea at an open house.

As a consumable and AI. Ugh.

But, think about the drop queue for elemental pilots to be called on in game, while it's being played.

LOLs ensue.

I seem to recall Russ replying to someone in a thread asking about elementals, can't source it right now but as far as I know he gave a somewhat positive answer, though that by itself doesn't mean much. Maybe we'll get them, maybe we won't.

We need these badly.
MWO should be a multi-facted game.
No the one dimensional game it is now.

Or this.
I can only imagine the influx of new and re-interested players PGI included these.
Come PGI let get cooking here.

And of course these bad boys.
