2x2, 4x4, 6x6, 12x12? What's the point? It's just skirmish by another name.

4 v 4 as opposed to 12 v 12 will offer a totally different game play experience. Lance v lance will be great for the game. This is on the Star Map to. How its going in? Dont know. Ya the game needs new maps etc but I am not going to say this wont be a big change in game play.

That will be true if and only if people don't start flooding the forums with gut-wrenching complaints that hotshot players (especially those dropping as a 2/3/4-man unit) are ruining it for them by always killing them in 5 minutes or less and start demanding that the latter be kept out of the 4x4 queues.

But I am not holding my breath.

luckily?

I mean the urbie was an aprils fools once.

Well, they have said openly that Solaris is in the plans, but several years down the line. And unfortunately CW needs too much work for them to look at this anytime soon.

Trust me, I am one of the early advocates for Solaris, and I still can't believe that they didn't start there as it would have gained them a much larger crowd of players to start with. Low hanging fruit and all.

I hope to hell this is an april fools gag, if it happens we can say death to this game oneday achieving something, and hello pointless e-sport.

Sorry Cathy, but I disagree completely. Esports are popular and would give this game a huge boost in players, which is what it needs. If they had started with Solaris VII mode early on, it would have gotten the game out to a larger audience and they would have likely have been able to hire more people to then work on the Lore content.

I know they saw this as a team based game from the beginning, but I think it was a poor business decision on their part and still is.

as far as making it pointless. Many see moving borders on a fictitious map as..... pointless.

E sports only works in a competitive surrounding, but with the current MWO, this is not a competitive base given.
Mech imbalance, hitreg, dc's at matchstarts and so on.

The big torunament they had? 2/10 wouldn't wathc again, they were all extremely boring except the one match where one team was hiding in river city in the tunnel trying to rosht he base afterwards. But thy got articrushed to death.

Current MWO's Esport would be dominated by a few cheesebuilds and totally boring.

However they could make some more casualised rankings, chassis rankings, class rankings and such. Stuff that is always there dynamically.

It's too bad this is the April Fools joke.

Perhaps, like the Urbanmech, we'll actually get all this in a year.

As long as you pay real money anything is possible.

I disagree a bit. Yes, the current system isn't great for this, but wouldn't you like to see the likes of TwinkyOverlord go up 1v1 against Heimdelite (sp?)? Yes, cheese build would still be around, unless you made classes such as Light Mechs only, Mediums Only, 3025Tech only, Stock Clan Medium Primes Only, etc. The categories could be almost endless and be used to level the playing field from a small amount to a large amount depending on need. I think it would garner a larger following than other give it credit for. I see the potential.

Though april first, this is a great idea. Limit to 1v1-4v4 (single lance) or up to 16 in a free-for-all. Actual arena maps based on the original Battletech lore and MW4 would need to happen as the current maps wouldn't work great for it, and it is Solaris 7.

If this is an April Fool's joke, it's a bad one. A really, really bad one. But then again, they could just be testing the waters after the Urbanmech April Fool's joke that turned into a straight up demand for it to be included into the game.

Edit: Just watched the video above. Purchase your Solaris Battle arena license for only 500$, yeah, that's an April Fool's joke.

See, the thing is... we're doing exactly what is described in the video NOW.

That's the sad joke.

Technically, all the stuff they've suggested COULD actually be accomplished, but doesn't the video look like it came from some sort of Mechcommander game or something?

Whatever, the joke itself is complete meh.
