PGI are fixing a known exploit, not nerfing the victor or any of the other mechs getting their JJ animation fixed. so the answer to your question Gas Guzzler is nope. not at this time at least.

So you are of the opinion that the Victor losing this animation makes it no worse off? And the Victor is also perfectly competitive as it stands now?

never said that Gas, just that PGI are fixing some known exploits on more than just the Victor. these things take time, they have to start somewhere, so why not start with what is broken on them. PGI may buff it later to make it what you want "more competitive". After all PGI have given the players what they want with the Urban mech another fast light. so why shouldn't you have what you want also ? It'll just take some time. Oh and whining. ;)

At this point, it's going to need quirks like the Cataphract... except that's a different set of issues.

The quirkening has altered the powercreep, and unfortunately will need more to accelerate the process at the rate PGI is going.

The victor is kinda weak (nvm some DS builds), even with the exploit. If the fix brings us close to finally adding some notable quirks, awesome.

Otherwise it's just an issue that should be fixed. Nvm the mech.

7 split between 3 different systems forces you to either run a brawl build with SRMs and weak energy solution, or you only use 2 types of weapon systems and go for big weapons.

Don't forget the absolutely horrible convergence (nvm the DS) and the low slung arms placed on a mech as wide as an atlas, on a mech, which best peforms with XL. The tiny launchers even cause trouble for srm usage.

The Victor and the Highlander would be out there kicking the timber's rear if they had access to the LFE. That would really go very, very, far to balance the game imo....

Would break misery, crab, jagermech, firestarter, etc, etc...

Also another insane level of grind, since you would need an LFE for every single mech. And when there is no choice in choosing, then there is no point in options.

How would there be no options? If the Victor got the same armor buffs the the Zeus got, then that might be enough, but Victor weren't meant to be in the middle of a fight, They jumped in blasted their target and got the heck out with their jump jets. Used to be that you could jump over a Atlas and blast him in the back, and back over while he was still turning around. Just like lore! But someone decided that only light mechs should be able to do that so poor Victor was given a time out. Now one can zerg rush anything with firestarters that have more firepower than a Victor and run twice as fast! PGI STILL THINKS THAT A victor IS A TIER 1-2 MECH!!!! Their more like a 3-4 and numerous people have stated that as well....

I mean that there isn't a real choice between STD and LFE, you would always choose the latter. It's just like DHS, just a layer of grind (and this time a bit bigger). 4 Slots less for a 25% lighter engine? **** Yeah, nobody would argue against that! Doesn't even stop you from putting an AC20 into the ST.

Well the clan CXL is what gives the clan such a big survivability advantage. Plus the IS LFE would go a long ways to help TTK....

Only for XL-mechs, which are quite rare above mediums. Would be MOAR GUNS for most mechs. And clans and their engines are the issue which brought us the power creep first place.

Victors almost always run big XL's! Your just showing that you know nothing about the chassis! Quite a few Highlanders run XLs so they can run LL or PPC's. Yes the clan's brought us the power creep because A FEW of them can bring to the fight a crazy amount of firepower AND those CXL's! I hate it when a light or medium pilot tries the talk about Victors when they have never piloted the chassis! What should we do about the clans? You talk like we should just either get rid of the clans or just nerf them into the ground like what was done to the poptarts! No?

Quirks are not what is planned for the clan big three. Everyone has been talking about a nerf for those 3 mechs-no? Victors remain nerfed because they lost their ability to escape. They don't have the armor to fight the clans, and they don't have alot of things going for the chassis-wide torso, low hardpoints, few hardpoints, low number of missle tubes, etc. All of that didn't matter cause they bounced around their enemies and were able to do a 360 in the air. Now that they have been grounded, all of their shortcomings are standing out in the open for all to see.

stuff

That is because pilots who "meta game" don't drive Victors any more because they are so far from competitive. They all drive Timber Wolves.

But doesn't that means that the TW is getting NERFED too then right? One would think, but based on all the soon to be incoming OMG's!, Whines and Tears to the contrary, that it would be a good thing... ;)

Many Mechs are hopping now. It is like everything else. If Jimmy see Billy doing it, well it has to be a thing right, and so on and so on. Gamers and being Original... ain't never been a thing.

I say let the poptarts have their JJ's. Just put the gravity at 1 or 2 times instead of 4x, that way they are up there for a good long while. Lore is what, like 120 meters on Victors? Just make the first part of the takeoff slow and after say 15 meters speed it up progressively till the JJ run out of fuel. Thoughts?

simples ..lower gravity, buff jump jets, Jj's become useful again but don't bring back poptart meta as the air hang time is longer and they are effectively stationary targets, victor useful as a JJ brawler again

In no way, shape or form will the Urban mech be a "FAST" light....or competitive.

Very bad analogy.

You can get lots of missle tubes if you put the SRMS in right....LRM on a victor is wrong to me anyway.

I'm pretty sure i could sell most of my engines i have now and get LFE's in most of the mechs i needed them in. Grind not really necessary if you sell what you got. But i see what you are saying, they should just remove the norm XL though if they put in LFE. What would be the point?

the victor is perfectly competitive as it is for any pug battle. not in competitive scene but for PUGlandia its definetly competitive.
as fup said, you have to go full brawl but i dont see that as a problem since it has 55 alpha straight to the face ability with hard punching weapons that shake the enemy when they hit.
it twist very good (altho i would love to see a faster twist rate) and 4 JJ give it a good run on jumping as well.

alot of face-time aint no good for it as well. so fire + twist is the key instead of just stare the enemy down.
in my book it might even be the best IS brawl assault (forgive me, atlas D-DC...) with its overall combination of speed (XL350 and it goes 78) JumpJets (ye, really, just use all 4...) and good punch.

I agree with the OP, but...

... could we at least WAIT for once for a change to be implemented before we all jump on the "omg, is nerf, please buff" bandwagon?
