If people want something over-arching that connects battles and such I'm all for it. But I think too many people (not saying Joe or anyone else specifically is one of them) sat there and griped about how the game was meaningless without CW. Well, I'd love for someone to tell me exactly what meaning CW was supposed to bring. Because the long and short of it is still going out there and shooting virtual giant robots for recreation.
I dont know, I wasnt there. But my guess would be that they wanted more than a 5 map rotation with 3 versions of team death match. I can get more than that with a single purchase of Call of Duty for about 50 bucks and it comes with a campaign, yet PGI wants to charge upwards of 100 bucks or more for a single mech pack and we all still just get the same 5 maps with 3 versions of Team Death Match just with different mechs every few months.
Dont get me wrong, its a good little game and I like it and I can definitely see how people can become fans, but 5 maps only goes so far. People kind of want more bang for their buck after a while. Especially the long time Battle Tech fans I would suspect.
So I guess then comes the CW. Which was supposed to be the next step in content I guess. But its still in beta. It only has a handful of maps and has a lot of stuff to be worked out yet.
I dont think anyone is asking for the next ground breaking idea. Just more than whats in place right now. Especially since a lot of these people are paying for premium time plus mech packs. That adds up to a whole lot of money ( think I seen one guy say he has spent over 1000 bucks on this game so far). Especially when the premium based MMO's only charge 15 bucks a month for unlimited access and gobs of content, and these poor souls here get 5 maps and done.
