Mechbags as they were in MW3 would indeed be interesting, it would change a lot about the builds and would end the is vs clan talks. No quirks, then quirk what need sot be buffed by shape and hardpoint issues.
IS cna take the epic CERML, and overheat all day. and clanners can take the so called bad IS lasers with their short beamduration.
Oh how interesting this would be. and how PGI could have used crosstech as a way better announcement of an aprils fool joke.

I think an interesting idea is make Endo more of a side grade instead of upgrade. Have standard give across the board more internals. So the other Clan mechs without Endo have more survivability. And among the IS it's a choice of survivability or weight savings. And we already have a rather annoying C-bill sink in the form of Double Heatsinks and modules.
The balance between Clan weapons needs improvement. Lasers are lighter, better at range, and deal more damage compared to the balance between IS lasers and IS ACs. So the Clan ACs need to have something that competes with that. A bump in velocity, possibly reduce the number of shots that make up the overall damage. Obviously there is a certain whale that would be much stronger with this change. But it can have negative quirks there, if need be.
IS lasers: shorther beamduation, better damage/heat ratio.
