Hey everyone!

I got a free Centurian, Atlas, and Crab for buying the Urbanmech when the pre-orders just started. I enjoy my Centurian and Crab immensly and almost never do poorly with them. However, I can't seem to get my Atlas to work right.

I've tried missleboating, and actually enjoyed it quite a bit, but the lack of launch tubes made it not particularly effective. So now, I'm looking for a strong brawler. It need to be durable as all hell, and if it's slow, I don't really mind too much.

I'd like to do close in brawling, but at the last with a couple longer-range weapons if I need to poke people on the way there.

Thanks!

EDIT: I find a build that might work, though I fear it runs far too hot. In testing grounds, it's decent enough.

Should I keep the ARtemis if I'm running 4 SRM6's? The low spread makes it great for coring, but I wonder if the extra tonnage might help a bit (even if just for heatsinks)

AS7-S

This is what I use for brawling. Not really effective above 400 metres, but since you should always have some sort of escort with you, you should be ok. Maybe you could try to drop some ammo and heatsinks like this: "AS7-S" if you really want something for range. 3-4 tons of AC/20 is always enough for me, I have usually ran out of SRM ammo sooner than AC ammo. I have those two MLs just in case.

EDIT 2:
I could also strip one of the SRM-6 launchers, keep the artemis and add more heatsinks.

Well, that first build I posted has same cooling efficiency like this one, and the second one with large laser has 1% more, though I don't think that would make any significant difference in actual combat. I guess it's more about the preference, I prefer to not have those two MLs in arms. But that's just me.

You have enough ammo for pugland and are pretty heat efficient. Any more ammo is usually wastefull since you will lose a ST before you run out.

Wow. Looks like many of the builds are very similar to each other. Seems the Atlas-S has only a few good ways to run it. I wonder if I can break that trend with some rediculous crap. (More rediculous than LRM's) Thanks for all the help!

this build has a tad more range but also great up close dps:

this is another high dps brawler, retains energy:

The strength of the variant are the 4 missiles hardpoints, a build not using those hardpoints is probably better on another Atlas.
And since friends don't let friends lurm in Atlas, 4 SRMs is the only way.

My pick.
