It would become another "tax" mechanic like DHS, Endo, modules, etc. that you basically would have to get in order to put yourself on-par with your peers who did the same.

No.

Artemis needing a little extra weight and slots makes it more of a tradeoff/choice than something you just toggle on and never remove.

Not going to happen.

Clans need their special snowflake treatment, because that's canon.

Artemis does need the tradeoffs, but IMO the tradeoffs are too much. I personally would suggest that the extra weight should stay but remove the extra slot requirement. Either that, or fix the LRMs and make them actually useful.

Hey, the disadvantage for clans is that ALL of their mechs are limited to 6 missile hardpoints, while only the Catapult A1 is limited to 6 missile hardpoints.

ECM makes the weight investment in LRMs for the IS just not worth it. I have to throw on Tag, get in line of sight, take a few hits as I wait for lock? Get the hell out of here. Unless your boating and you have the weight for it. Along with someone to tag/narc for you. It's mostly dead weight. We'll probably never see a reason to simply throw on an LRM5 or 10. Unless they create quirks that essentially give you a boost per diverse weapon system you have.

IS mechs already have CD and heat generation quirks to counter clan advantages. the 6SRM6 CAT-A1 is actually WAY better now than it was back in the splatcat era. the 5SRM6 5ML splat stalker-5S, the Hunchie4SP, the 2SRM4 artemis huginn, the splatjag 4SRM6+2UAC5, Cent-AH, Orion-VA...

but if you're talking about the "launch UAV, press R, click click click" game, then lets give the IS mechs free artemis and remove absurd quirks like the LRM10 4J huchie or Treb 7M.

What is totally absurd is 1 ton par launcher independently from the size for a Missile "targeting computer" ?!?!

It's like mounting multiple TC MK1 as many launchers you have! :D

Uhm, IS LRM launchers are considered better because they thump a target all at once, instead of streaming into them. An ALRM 45 volley from a Battlemaster will generally wreck you much faster than a ALRM 45 from a clan mech will.

Additionally, on many builds IS ballistics are better because they concentrate damage, and IS lasers are better because they're lower heat. You don't need welfare Artemis to compete in pugs. Most IS lrm users get little use out of artemis, because they're cowering behind a rock, waiting for their team to get locks. Artemis only works with line of sight.

Have you gone senile? Cause that's the only reason you can utter such non-sense. Back then, a SRM had 2.5 damage and big splash damage per each missile (a single missile can do as much as 12.5 damage) -- a Splatcat could two-shot a Heavy and three-shot an Atlas. There is a reason why SRMs have been nerfed.

why not just IS LRM's reach out to 1500 meters? Or maybe do twice the damage of clans? Or remove clan LRM's maybe?

sigh...Clans were vastly superior to IS mechs...instead of blaming clans or making IS mechs quirked to magnificence, address how match maker creates s........oh, nevermind.....

Only the Mad Dawg gets 6 missiles on the Clam side.

Sorry Ach but that's not a good idea. IS has already an advantage due to the clans missiles fired in stream. However, it should make IS SRM a bit (5% - 7%) more narrow. Also, if I remember correctly, IS SRMs deal more damage per missile.

so, what I'm seeing is that you want to shoot, but not be shot at, forcing your teammates to expose themselves to enemy fire for your benefit. Thats kind of a selfish attitude to have.

Though let's be honest, no one is ever going to mount Artemis on SRM2s on the small chance they even use SRM2s in the first place, so it could maybe use some tweaking of some sort to justify the weight on the smaller launchers. Not that we would ever see it adjusted to account for such a weird situation.

I am ok with this; I cannot see this being such a big problem, in the grand scheme of things.

I think that Artemis 2's should probably be 100% completely pinpoint with no spread at all, seeing how Artemis costs as much weight as the launcher itself... (Or more for the Clans).

Sorry but I think this would be an overall bad idea for balance, be it IS vs Clan or IS Vs IS . The cries of "OP LRMs" would start again not to mention that there would be no use for regular LRMs now, no trade-off between Art and non art LRMs.

Please keep a broader perspective in mind/sight.
