I thought so. I have teamspeak set to voice activation, so yeah, I guess they'd hear me twice.

Tbh, unless you're drop-lead, it doesn't even really matter. It isn't gonna kill anyone. Might be a bit annoying, but I've never complained....mostly because nobody else seemed to mind :P

I am new to the game and have yet to play a match because I am reading as much info about MWO as I can before playing. Regarding comms, my pc is upstairs in a bedroom so I can't use a mic ingame (wife say's she can't sleep) so would this be a BIG problem for teamate's or is it essential I use comms? Don't want to type ingame either for obvious reason's.

No, you don't need to be on a mic. But you should at least be on comms listening.

In my experience so far, the only pilots that really need to be talking are light scouts and shot-callers (drop commanders). So you should be fine, just as long as you are on headphones listening. And a good majority of information is still passed through typed chat in your upper left screen.

Admittedly, sometimes I am unable to speak on comms due to the proximity of my kids' room to my computer. (I'm right outside their door.) In those instances I type in text chat, but I much prefer both speaking and listening to comms. I find very often I miss the text chat because I am in combat.

The reason I started this thread was so that more people will use comms. Very often I feel like I am talking to myself in game.

This. As long as you're an effective follower not in these roles, it's not critical. Probably the most effective you can be via chat is stuff like:

But realistically, anyone can and should call the targets.
