Some Tricky Questions

  • If an omnipod has a quirk that has no location (like [RT]) in the description does it count for the whole mech or only this part,
for example an right arm with “10% Laser range” has a Laser in the left am that bonus too?

  • Can I see omnipod quirks of mechs that I don’t own somewhere ingame, at websites I'm never sure if its up to date?
Also for some mechs the omni quirks seem to be listed in the mech description like normal quirks and for some not, or has the Mist Lynx center torso the same quirks as his omnipods together?

  • If I want to avoid Heat scaling I have to wait 0,5sec, but is it after firing or after a laser stopped firing?

NOt sure about the omnipods, but I can verify, having tested with Clan Er Large Lasers, that the .5 is from laser fire start.

1. Quirks given by one omnipod affect every system on the mech in all other omnipods too.
2. In the mechlab, hover over the mech and the list of overall quirks for the mech and all omnipods shows. Change the filter on the top of the grid from "owned" to "purchaseable" to do this for mechs you can buy. If you want to know specific omnipod quirks and you own the mech, in the mechlab, click on a specific section (Left Torso for instance) then select the Omnipod in the left side menu. All omnipods available for that mech and location will be shown (at least 3, but they don't always have unique stats from each other). Hover over each to see what quirks and hardpoints each one offers.

To do this for mechs you don't own and probably easier, use http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/. The info there is extracted directly from the game files so it's always current and updated almost immediately after a patch. It's also dated on the bottom in case you aren't sure.

Omnipod quirks apply to the whole Mech and stack, so for example if you had both arms and both torsos with a 7.5% laser heat reduction on each that would equal 30% heat reduction to any laser the Mech fired

1. Currently -- and this is actually the source of many problems with the quirk system -- all quirks apply to the whole mech and no specific part. Each part simply gives your entire mech certain bonuses or punishments for just having that part.
2. Here you go.
3. It is 0.5 seconds of having pressed the button. It does not factor in 'beam time' (now; it seems to have done that early on but seems fixed since ages ago).
