So....we're ramping up for CW to be out of Beta, correct?
I wonder if it would be possible to have organized units be able to "donate" mechs to a Unit Pool and then to allow other members of that unit use the donated mechs like "Unit Trials."
That allows units to recruit newer players and to actually give them something worth using while they're learning to play with their units.
It also solves the problem of poorly constructed trial mechs.
Only the owner can modify them and once they're donated, they're locked in to the pool until removed.

An Interesting Solution To The Cw/new Player/trial Mech Problem

Possible, yes.
Not very likely though.
Personally I'd like this applied to the mech shop as well, you should have a filter to buy pre-fitted customized versions of mechs made by friends, and filter based on the name changing from the default of the chassis.
That way your friend has a great mech they're using and want to acquire it - no more going to smurfys reproducing it and send a link for them to copy from that, just tell them what you named it and they can outright purchase it.

Yes, its unlikely to ever occur. Why because a player with 100 mechs donates 80 of them and then he and a dozen others who don't ever have to buy a mech all play CW for ever (it disincentives people to buy their own mechs)

Uh...ramping up for CW to be *out* of beta?
In my eyes it's just about to *enter* beta & we're just about done with the second stage of alpha....

Dude...the game itself is still in Beta. Granted, PGI says it's a completed product....but virtually every other game out there is far more polished and ready for gaming that MW:O has ever been.
