"We want Ostscout" - No, we don't.

I like to pretend that none of the Ostmann Industries 'mechs ever existed. It makes me feel a lot better.

Edit: "Most Ostscout pilots will not even attempt to engage enemy 'Mechs, as the advanced sensor system is extremely rare and nearly impossible to replace." - Yeah, that'll work well in an arena shooter without any semblance of role warfare (or R&R for that matter) :/

My Daughter won her place in the CBT Fiction in the Ostsol, So I kinda would like to see at least that Mech in game. ;)

Collisions, that's why the Fireball exists.. I think it was something like (1/5 tonnage)* X=number of hexes moved)... it worked out that a Firemonth charging at an Atlas might actually take out the leg of an Atlas, if it hit.

Yikes! OK, I guess I get that. Still, how do you convince a pilot to be a kamikaze Fireball pilot?

Command: Here's the plan. Run as fast as you can and smack into that Atlas?

Pilot: Won't that royally mess up my mech?

Command: Yes, but the assault mech will be slowed.

Pilot: Soo... What comes after that? I don't have the firepower to take him out and I'll be too crippled to run.

Command: Just hang tight till the enemy kills you.

Pilot: Oh! Ok...that sucks.

Command: What are you waiting for? Get out there! Hey! Where are you going!?!

Hmmm... Maybe a "Bag o'Useless" 'mech pack with those two in it.

What other two chassis are similarly iconic and useless, or iconic due to their uselessness?

CHARGER! 80 ton mech with 1 weapon arm and I believe its 8 Small lasers lol.

Why stop with the OSTscout? Let's go whole hog and get PGI to re-work the rest of the unseen.

So we all can spit in Harmony Gold's eye.

Ok, we'll increase it to a "BIG Bag O' Useless" 'mech pack to include:

Charger
Ostsol
Ostscout
Fire Moth
Fireball
Flea

That's a different 'mech pack, I think it's the:

GFYHG 'Mech Pack, includes the:

Rifleman
Wasp
Warhammer
Marauder

And a few others I can't remember off the top of my head...

What...the... Fuuuuu....?!?

And I thought the Ostscout was bad.

OK, if it isn't designed to hold up to enemy fire (only 4 tons armor), why give it ANY weapons. It goes 183 kph... PGive it ECM and no weapons. Let it count on pure evasion.

While we are at it...why do these mechs even exist in BT? I would imagine something like an Aero Fighter or an UAV could do the job MUCH better.

Lastly, what did the poor schmuck of a pilot have to do to get assigned the Fireball or Ostscout? Sleep with the base commander's daughter?

USELESS? You could cap every base on a conquest map befroe the enemy even leaves ther spawn! 400KPH!!!!!!!!!!
This Fireball unique variant was equipped with a 320 XXL Engine, MASC, and Supercharger. This combination of speed systems gives it a consistent running speed of 240 km/h, with bursts of up to 400km/h
possible.

DW pilot: WTF was that blur??

Atlas Pilot: Couldnt get a readout but it sounded like DONTOR screaming with glee going 400KPH...

...Yeah, there was a lot of power creep in BT, starting with the Original Cheese™: The Clans.

That's why it's a perpetual 3025 in my BattleTech Universe.

Don't the OST mechs fall under the HG decision? Due to their similarity with the Zentradi pods (It's a stretch I know).... I remember something about this and why they are unseen...

In December of 2011, BattleTech's line developer ruled that the Ostscout, Ostsol, and Ostroc were sufficiently different from their inspiration (Regult Scout Pod, Regult Battle Pod, and Regult Heavy Missile Pod, respectively) to be removed from the "Unseen" list.

As long as we get the ALM-XF Custom Fireball Variant.....

Lag Shield anyone?
  • ALM-XF This Fireball unique variant was equipped with a 320 XXL Engine, MASC, and Supercharger. This combination of speed systems gives it a consistent running speed of 240 km/h, with bursts of up to 400km/h possible. This Fireball has a pair of ER Small Lasers as its only weapons and a mere three and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor protect it. Despite these limitations, and the fragile XL Gyro, the owner (noted as a criminal) didn't see this as a problem. The Fireball-XF (which stands for "Extra Fast") is used only in illegal street races.[7] BV (2.0) = 612[8]

Eventually! But just imagine the tears from 6 side crits and and a soft Gyro! Plus the down side of MASC/Supercharger failure!

I mean it's really just a slow Locust....

Strange animation to use but I see this phrase a lot on these forums lately.

I think it is a good idea to constantly bring up all the things that were previewed, promised, or hinted at so that we don't end up with short term memories and keep them on their toes so we do not get strung along again.
