Well considering PGi has the mechwarrior franchise for a long time, I would personally like to try and make the most of it. Feel free to vanish if its not your cup of tea, or keep trolling, whatever tickles your pickle.

But the Moneys, think of the precious money, how self-centered do you have to be to put your own personal enjoyment ahead of the welfare of the money in your pocket.

Q: What's the difference between a cheap and nasty bottle of "champagne" and a really good bottle of the real thing?
A: I can afford to drink a whole lot of the real deal. :P

2018 will be here sooner than you or PGI think. I'm glad some folks are proud that their money has produced this. Feel free to keep subsidizing poor development or don't. I know I won't.

Did you not realized the Urban mech package comes with 30 days of premium time, something many of these guys were going to buy anyway?

Set aside the Urbies, what can $40 get you?

60 days premium time
4 mech bays
An extra mech you can sell off for CBills (recent announcement)
A number of cool cockpit items (not all, but some)
New forum titles

Not bad for $40. You also have knowledge that 360 degree torso twist was added to the game because you helped fund it. Hopefully we'll see some new mechs using it in the near future.

All made by PGI within a day. Or perhaps in even a few hours.

Not bad. Some quick cashing.

No kidding. 30 days of PT is 2,500 MC. To get 60 days, you need to spend $30 (USD) to get 6,000 MC. Then the Bays at 300 each (1200) and you're past $30 already. Add in cockpit items, new unique ones too, and you're at about $40. That doesn't count 4 mechs, one with unique skin and geometry and c-bill bonus.

I bought the pack for the PT and mechbays, the rest is pure awesome gravy.

I remember when you could get a MW game for $30 and that included a Single player campaign, instant action, about 45 or 50 maps and Multiplayer all from the get go.Its still over half what a retail AAA game sells for today so value on that scale isn't too good.I guess the "Knights" feel its a bargain,to each his own I guess

I would like to see the Haters list a single person who feels like they were ripped-off when they bought the $40 urbie pack.

Please, start listing off those fools... I would like to see how many fools were separated from their money, because the rest of us are having a blast and supporting these forums that the haters cling to.

You remember a gaming age that's long past. Most games today aren't in that price range (I'd even go to $40 in that era), and most games today don't ship complete. Its unusual for a game to have so much content today. Look at Destiny -- that's the future.

I'm talking about the shift in game production.

Destiny is a AAA title on the PS4 and Xbox One. Its an Online-only, multiplier only, I don't think you can even really solo the game as it will find you two random people to group with, like it or not. It had limited content on day one, was buggy as heck, and was repetitive. Some bugs were found and instantly exploited by players (there was this cave were you could shoot in it all day, kill all the baddies there and scrape up the loot w/out ever really being in any kind of conflict) and they had to put some embarrassing fixes in. Bungie spent probably 50 times what PGI has in three years on Destiny, they had a very expensive marketing campaign including choice spots on various sport broadcasts. They even promised a PC version, but made so much money at launch they laughed off the PC port while bathing in solid gold bath tubs with hot and cold running diamonds.

Titanfall is also in this category, only was less buggy on day one, and plenty of DLC to buy after the fact. But has a PC version at least.

This is how AAA games are done now. Its the norm for the industry. Flogging PGI for doing what everybody else is doing is kinda silly.

Now that I'm done doing the history thing, here's my opinion: It all sucks. We players are asked to pay a lot of money for a lot less content than we used to get 10 years ago.

Yes I've paid a pretty penny for this game, I'll admit it (you can see in my forum tag), but it was my play money to blow, so it was my choice. I don't complain about it. When PGI makes things I want and I feel the price is fair, I buy them, when I don't (clans) I skip it.

I look at it like this:
I'll spend $5-15 dollars on a game I enjoy and spend some time playing and not feel ripped off.
A lot of those are 1-off purchases, some are free-to-play games and I'll put $5-15 if I like them, because it's only fair.

90% of those games don't hold my interest for more than a month.
So, if a free-to-play game holds my interest for multiple months, it'll get multiple $5-$15 purchases. This also covers standard MMO subscriptions.

Triple-A games... are too expensive for what you get. $60, and I'm not going to actually be playing them for four months to make it 'worth it'. Yes, I'll be playing the hell out of them for a week or three, but it still seems kind of overpriced. Most of them get put on my Steam wish-list and I'll buy them on sale.

There are exceptions! Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, StarCraft II... all got played enough to be worth the cost.

(as for old MechWarrior games... I still pull out MechCommander 2 sometimes. Why couldn't that part of the April Fools joke be real?)

I remember 89 cent a gallon gas, and 2.50 movie tickets too.

What's that got to do with the real world of today?
