Very nice... Came to play a game, gonna wait 3 days to finish...

Well.. Hopefully you are done before the Turkayyid event is OVER... LOL.. J...

Anyway.. I did sort warn the devs that for such a major patch...
Some of us would have probably like to have had one huge patch which we could have pre-downloaded days in advance. That would saved us this trouble of running this ridiculously slow downloading repair tool.

Ironically, I've never really had any stability problems or issues with patching time ... until now.

I tried to do the repair tool yesterday after I finally noticed this announcement. The repair tool would hang mid download on about every other file, which wouldn't be bad if it retried on its own, but it doesn't. It will hang for about 5-10 minutes before it finally says it's timed out and asks if would I like to retry. In other words, as long as it might take to do, I also have to be near my computer to keep trying as it goes. Eventually, I gave up and figured the actual patcher would probably work better.

I was wrong. The patcher today does the exact same thing. I myself can tell that a file has stalled in about 20 seconds, so after a couple times, I finally said, F it, ...closed the patcher and opened it back up. Interestingly, I immediately got the option to play. uh oh? Nah... works great. Maybe I'll try the repair tool again later at some point and it will work better. Right now, I don't see the point, though. All it did was cause me problems that I didn't have before.

This patch messed up my whole installation! Repairing and downloading since yesterday....

1st error was that other mechs on battlefield only appeared completly in white, without cockpit glasses, without shadows etc...then crashes and dc's, at the moment repair tool is downloading the whole game again...

Normally you make good work, but this time it is horrible.

Oh, Repair tool just closed and dont work anymore, great....

I cannot start the game at all. I updated the game with the repair tool, but clicking on the Mechwarrior Online opens the process only to close it silently. I tried -nopatch and administrator toggles.

Is it possible you're having the same issue as here?

Check post #14, by Ace Kirby about the temp directory. If the registry stuff is a bit too confusing, I may be able to simplify it. Just lemme know.

As long as it actually appears to be doing something it should be fine. In the upper part of the window there are two bars of text, the lower one should show some indication of download progress. If this isn't the case, then something may be awry.

I had that idea in mind, but, unfortunately, I could not test it. I always set my temporary folder to C:\Temp\, and I have not edited the registry last night as I had no idea where the value had been stored (I tried checking various files in the game and Users directories).
The crash was not indicating anything. I even reset the value of AutoPatch to False to no avail to test if it uses any temporary directory.
Whenever I clicked the icon, the application started for a couple of seconds in the tasks and shut down immediately. Not a single error was shown or window was opened.

I had a similar bug on another PC, but I solved it by Repair Tool (only one run was enough).

I solved the bug by reinstalling the game completely.

Both computers have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

Can you ensure that your C:\Temp directory contains an MWOUpdate directory? This might be the point of failure. If this isn't the case, then I may need to see your patcher logs. If the problem happens when the MWO icon pops up on screen (before the patcher window), then I'd need to see the bootstrap patcher logs. If it happens when the full patcher window is present, then I'd need to see the frontend patcher logs. If you have any difficulty tracking these down, I can help.

I solved the problem by reinstalling the game, so the whole game directory ended up empty. I cannot find any log files for the dates when I could not launch the game. The last logs are dated 4 days prior to the crash.

I clean the temporary directory quite often, and the MWOUpdate folder might have been deleted too. I used to have the MWOUpdate directory, yes; but I cannot guarantee that it was there during the time the bug appeared (again, as I clean my temporary folder). The patcher did not start even with any icon or window. Just the cursor changing to a circle and back in a second's time.

As I mentioned previously in this thread I was unable to run the repair tool before the APril 21st patch (the program would crash regardless of what options were checked). I let the game patch and there seemed to be no issues, I could launch the game in 32bit (64bit still will not load due to some error I've submitted to support back in December & again in February).

I then decide to run the repair tool and after the 21st patch having been applied it still found numerous issues, wasn't the patcher supposed to resolve those issues (and thus take quite a while) for those who did not run the repair tool prior to patching?

Check your registry at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Production', find the value TEMPFOLDER and create the path it points to, the launcher should run again afterwards. ©

the problem was solved. was a wrong directory in the registry

When I try to run the game icon from my desktop I get:
"Failed to Launch the MWOPatcher.exe - Access is Denied." I am trying to run this as administrator and it does not work.

When I try to run the repair tool from the Bin32 folder I get:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item." I am trying to run this as the administrator, it makes no difference.

I had these same issues on April 7th, when the patch with the Urbanmech was released. PGI then issued that hot patch the next evening and it was corrected, but now I am having the same issue.

I am running Windows 7 - 64bit.

Another Patch today and the problem is back. Anyone from PGI have a resolution to this? This has happened the last 3 patches. It usually ends up working but I am concerend that at some point it won't

Yet another botched up patch...can't get the patch button and the repair tool doesn't fix the issue...it isn't like I wanted to use my Jager Champion anyway!

Do you receive the same "Access is denied" error when attempting to run the MechWarriorOnline.exe directly from within the Bin32 folder?
Do you have the game installed to the default directory, or a custom directory?

The launcher is only showing the Play button? What error do you receive when attempting to launch?

An issue like this was reported by another player earlier, and as it turned out in that case a third-party tool (specifically Razer Synapse) had one of the client executables open and wouldn't allow anything to modify the file. To make matters worse, this happened on rebooting Windows, effectively locking down the file until this player uninstalled the other program. Is it possible you are having the same issue? Maybe not necessarily the same program, but the same symptoms?

Got home, downloaded the patch, and now the launcher has 24 'repair' files that it needs to download? What gives, game was up to date yesterday

You should provide a download link to most recent version because when the repair tool run, it cannot update itself (and I believe you disabled mismatch checking for it anyway to avoid problems).

When I tried starting MWO today, there was an error as soon as I clicked the icon so I was not able to see the panel with PATCH button. So I ran the repair tool and many files were updated but not the repair tool. Now when I start MWO I'm not prompted to patch but the repair tool is still at version 1.2.4 so it won't update until I patch again in 2 weeks.

Someone running repair tool all the time without using the patch button will never get the latest version of the repair tool.

Yes, I run it directly from the Bin 32 Folder.. It is a custom folder on a Drive I use only for games..
