I was reading another post about the steep learning curve of this game, and that you couldn't "train" up new players without going into the group Queue or CW - one of which is "Hard Mode" for new players and the other "Just Die Mode".
Then it occurred to me: Give new players 2 weeks of Premium Time! There are some real advantages:
1.New players can set up a private match between them to practise against moving opponents! No fear of immediate stomping! Really useful to players joining a unit who can get some proper mentoring.
2.As well as the Cadet bonus they will earn more CBills so that by the time they are finished, they might have enough to fill those 4 mech bays.
3.As it inexorably ticks down it might encourage them to really get stuck in, play a large number of games, and get over that horrific learning curve.
4.Two weeks should be longer than the 25 games cadet bonus, so they will be apply some of that extra XP to mechs they actually own.
5.They get a tast for the benefits of Premium Time and are more likely to convert that taste into real money purchases of MC.
Thoughts?

Premium time seems to be given away by PGI every other week as part of the lower tier goals so premium time is readily available anyways.

True - but some of those goals - even the lower tier ones - can be challenging in a trial mech when you're still trying to work out where your legs are!
Also, I fear many give up before they even give the game a week - with many games people like to see immediate progress. I've done it myself....

I'm not oppose to the ideas but I think that free premium time can get abused by existing players creating alt accounts to get free private matches for unit competition practice and what not.

Yeah ... no. Bad idea is bad, and you should be ashamed.
Beginners already get a significant leg up compared to regular matches. They don't need more.
It would just be one more disappointment -- "Why did my Premium Time end, and why did my Cadet Bonus end?
