@Cathy: They are Testing a new formula in this Tournament. Help improving.
The Community didn t liked the old formulas. So what to Change? Shure when you have a Team to Support you..ist easier..like Gerbarb... :D I don t have. But what can they do? Only Singel Drops counting? This will lead to more screams.

What I think is unfair..that I get matched in my ELO area...so ist not showing how well I do.....ATM ist grinding..but turning off the ELO during this Tournament will lead to even more crys.

Shut up huh, i'm entitled to express a concern the same as everyone else, and if pgi continue to cater for the group centric 15%

the 85% may well become the 50% and not because of increased grouping but because of a shruken player base, so like it or not I am helping by pointing out the dangers, my opinion could be wrong, but if it is not, and I doubt very much it is, then taking it down this route could be disastrous, so as you pointed out, kindly shut your mouth Marc

I like events.
MWO has some issues. This tournament is for shure not guilty when MWO is loosing players.

Cathy. Sorry that I was rud to you, but relax. What do you want? That they stop to do tournaments?

Tournament: Ist all about having much time.
Challange: Quickly done and you have some Bonus stuff. The item or 500MC. 2h? Max 3.

Where is the events for clan mechs so those of us who spent sh!t tons on these mechs could earn some serious mc rewards?

Just another reason why I'm glad I refunded the wave 3.

Your right we should keep it clean and I'm sorry, my concerns are not actually about the LFG challenge, which is completely understandable that they should do a challenge based around it to get the numbers up to check how if effects play levels, but the format of the Urby challenge, and any further possible events using that format

If you look at the scores of old challenges using the solo format, you will see that players at the top of the skill tree, and fair play to them, using much better lights than the urby, scored lower, the format is different but not to different, to exclued it as irrelevant.

What is a major difference is this is the first challenge where grouped matches count, and as some people have pointed out, some of the 3000 plus scores are getting close to perfect, and in an Urban mech.

I can understand people wanting to fight with friends, but, and I am surprised as nearly everyone from Russ and Bryan down that 85% of players are solo players I thought I would be in the minority but I'm not, and catering to a minority is bad business.

None of us have the figures, perhaps inside the 15% there lays 90% of the playing customers, the ones that use premium buy the packages, but that seems unlikely as I think the game would have closed, before now.

For months the casual player of which most of the 85% sit, has been told CW is for the grouped the elite, the hard mode the way its supposed to be, MWO is a team game, man up or ship out,and look at the empty wasteland that is.

If now tourneys and challenges go group centric, then what really is the point of a casual player continuing to support and play the game, it was endless rounds of pointless, arena battles, that finally did for me in WoT, and I know if this wasn't a title of a franchies I love I'd have left long ago, and that won't be a hook forever if every part of the game centers around groups and takes away the little oasis of competitiveness there is every few months, when the outbreak of steam is going to degrade the increasingly abusive nature of the average player, there is nothing to look forward to, except more childish behaviour from the unwashed masses.

The game whether people like it or not is based around the solo and small grouped player, the hard facts are if you carter for the minority and throw the majority crumbs, the game will become unsustainable, I know a lot of people don't want to acknowledge this, but its a simple fact of business.

As JP pointed out this event HAS become an exploitation fiasco. Perhaps some of the leader board players are simply that good. But if one believes that some are not having team mates set up the kills, legging, blowing off weapons, forming walls then I have a bridge I want to sell you.

I am an IS player at heart. But where is the competition for the clanners? Will this contest spawn a similar one for the wave 3 buyers? Will this be the new norm for mech packs sold? 5000 MC is a serious lure, pay to win or even have a chance at prizes?

Solaris would be REALLY epic right about now. One on One. Top player at the end of each day, week, something gets a minor prize and their name in lights. No support from team mates. No exploits. Just the best of the best

Yes, some fair points about exploitation have been made, and I'm sure they will tweak the rules moving forward as the usually do, but more interesting to me is to look at this event at a macro level. Here's what I mean. I'm really only trying in the R60L bracket, and I know I'm not going to crack the top 20 there, I'm too impatient and my Urbie drops are solo drops. But I've only played the other variants enough to earn the 2x daily bonus each day. So for example, I've only dropped 4 matches in my R60, yet I'm ranked 418 overall in that bracket. What this is showing me is that the scores probably are shaking down exactly as they should, that is, it's really easy to get yourself into the middle of the bell curve, and pretty hard to crack that top tier. Putting aside the merits of the scoring system, it does appear to be at least doing what they intended it to do.

I thought about this event since it was announced.

So in the end we have people who order with real money a mech pack, and now they have the chance to show their skill and get a price worth of mc, that is on the same lvl as you would spend real money buying the mc. 5000MC is about worth $25 to $30 - the urbanmech cost $20 or collector edition $40. So the event price seems about right. Beside the ideal price to participate in and take a place in the ranking.

Anyhow. While i think the event in itself is a good idea the time it is realeased is **** as **** for non urbanmech owners. To be clear i do not wanna take something away from you, you payed for it and now you get even more "content". But i think "community events" should be achivable to participate by all players not only by those who pay. It has something to do with F2P.

I suggest to make such events for every Mech, when it is routhly a moth c-bill released. So the whole community can participate in and not only the early adopters.

So far. Wish you all good luck to take first place in this event.

I would do it right at Cbill release to give people an incentive to buy it, and level the thing for a potential gain. This would also prevent some early adopters from buying a mech once, and never playing it again once leveled.

well i think the bit of time between release and the event itself needs to figure in, that those who by it with c-bill need to master 3 variants as it stands while the early adopters had the time to master the mechs befor the c-bill releas date. So to make it "equal" challange you should give the c-bill buyers time to master the mechs to be on the same page for the start of such a event. This was the point behind "one month" - i do not have any data to say how long it takes in general for an avg player to master 3 chassis. So it could be two weeks or even mor than a month.

Oh and yes, this would also drive early adopters in the spot to play their mechs after leveling. ;)

I was in a match with Jaberwocky last night, 5 kills, 6 assists, near 700 damage, and he won... in fact HE in an Urbanmech, wrecked our team.... that's the guy with the mojo... I am going to go out on a limb and say, this is the matches you will need to get to the top of this tournament

I love the certain individual in that video making a complete ass of himself in all chat about 'p2w no skill consumable spam' juxtaposed with the calm skill of Kirtanus and a very slow rendition of Mozart's 40th in G minor.

It's hilarious. xD

Wow Twinky and Jaberwocky are having a hell of a time. I've seen them overtake each other by ONE point.

Anyway, unless I missed it, there should be a display of your ten best somewhere. Maybe next time.

Well...... it was more of a waiting until Twinky decided to push that variant. I lack the precision and skill of some of you younger gentlemen, and I almost exclusively play solo cue or with my father and brothers (who sometimes TK each other for sport). Group cue coordination has never been our friend so @Cathy and Tom, I did not have any team back-up....other than running behind the legs of my assaults as cover :) Solo cue is a little easier because you can flank without the whole team turning around I find. I have 4 kids and a spotty internet connection (high-ping at times), but I got lucky on Friday as one of my kids was quite ill the night before so I was home from work, and got to use the Urbie before many people worried about them at all. A couple matches I was completely ignored in brawls and let my machine guns rip into the back of many a crab and wolf...those were the good times! By Sunday, brawling became very much more difficult with the little guy. As with much of any game, map awareness seems to be the key, and I did very well every time I was on Canyon, but sadly the matchmaker did not like me last night. After watching the other leaders' videos I realized that I would likely not hold on (fighting with 1ER, 1mpl, 4mg < poptart/very skilled laser sniping), but I had a lot of fun charging in, and got to feel not as old and useless at video games for a day or two heheh. Gl for the rest of the challenge, and thanks much to the people that played with me and commented, it was very much appreciated!

Work got in the way of this event for me this weekend. I've been at the same business for 22 years and have never worked a Sunday until yesterday.

(Schneider-Electric, thanks a lot for nothing)
