First time I have been able to access a computer (or power) for that matter in two and a half days now. Early Friday afternoon Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, D.C. and other areas experienced a weather phenomenon known as a derecho. Picture a hurricane away from the water.

While this didn't compare to Joplin or Tuscaloosa tornados in recent years, it still packed quite a punch considering storms of this magnitude are a rarity. Approximately 6 houses in my neighborhood alone have trees collapsed on their houses. Honestly felt like a tornado at first with 90+mph winds when it hit. Thankfully my house suffered no damage. Been cleaning up debris and clearing trees for the last couple days.

Just seeing if anyone else experienced this. Quite an intimidating storm to behold.

Still without power but hopefully that will be resolved soon, because I am sick of sweating in 95 degree weather :)

Had some power outages in town here in Illinois, but overall we got it when it was just starting up so we mostly just got rain and lighting.

Lucky man. I can't upload the pics off my phone yet (at a friends who has power) but this thing was impressive and from what I am reading Fort Wayne, IN got the worst of it. as of this afternoon ~70000 were still without power. I was for sure it was a tornado when it hit (winds were equivalent with an EF-1 tornado). The max gusts were around 90mph but there are reports of 100+mph.

It did nothing in Central Illinois...we need it even if it is bad weather. Drought and temps around 105

Indeed, just got back to southern Illinois from Texas and the only difference is that the temp is 2 degrees cooler and less humid.

p.s. I thought I was the only BT fan in Illinois outside of Chicago, if only I was not shipping out tomorrow.

Found out today that the storm was the equivalent of a Category 1 Hurricane.

We have had a burn ban for over a month now. I haven't seen green grass in weeks.

Definitely. I have seen some crazy storms roll in, but this one was one of the worst.
