12 mans that run all stalkers in cw fyi your not good you mechs are.
I like the quirks system. I understand why bad mechs need quirks but I don't see why mechs w great hit boxes are getting them (stalker, firestarter ect....).

I get the feeling OP won't be happy until MWO looks like this:
(insert line about nerfing the OP blue suction cup here)

60 point alphas? Not quite. It loses a ST, it loses 1/2 its lazors. Becomes a 27 point alpha.
Stalkers are good, thats why i leeted them but they are not OP. They crumble in a hard brawl.
A asymmetric space whale can lose the 3erml side and still pump out @56 damage alphas. (2LPL, 2Gauss)

Nice, dude. Good evidence, you should try to get published in MechWarrior Monthly ™!
Nah, but for real. I play CW ONLY and I don't own a Stalker. It is the best IS mech at 500-600m. It is really NOT too much of a brawler, IMO. It is a mid-range powerhouse that can prevent anyone peeking it. It seems best when you post on a corner and wait for silly peeking folks.
I do more damage with my QKD-4H with 4mdpl, 3SRM6 and 2JJ. I do more damage with my FS9 than I would with a stalker usually...although that is not such a good point since the firestarter is so damn strong.
Hell, I prefer and am more successful with a BLR-1S with 4xLL and 2xLRM5. Try and tell me THAT **** is meta, and I'll get as much as 1k damage with it. Of course, 500-600 damage is more average, but still good for an suboptimal mech. And my Wolverine-6K has been outscoring everything else I have these days.
The problem (perhaps not solvable) to me is NOT in the chassis or even the quirks. The way this game has developed, laser-based weapons are simply superior for most players. If there's a way to balance this out, that'd be great. I can't think of one, but there are plenty of minds sharper than mine running around.

I do find it strange how the FS9s and Stalkers got pretty nice quirks, while already being pretty good robots. Oh well.
They were the lesser variants, which are now the excellent variants. Quirkening.

1.)
50% of all CW IS assault mechs are stalkers.
2.)
The stalker with lostech weapons is stats-wise on par with the equal-weight high-tech WHK.
That simply cannot be.
Balance is good, balance is desirable and I'm quite the opposite of a lore purist, but not balance in a way that ridicules the fundamental story of high-tech-preserving exiles reinvading a lostech-ridden civilisation.
Give IS more numbers (e.g. drop tonnage), give them more tactical toys like consumables (ammo packs and what not), special ammo, command computers, etc., but don't quirk their weapons up until they have equal/better stats as the high tech weapons.
That is just moronic.

Everyone needs to just fricking STOP IT with this Us vs Them mentality when it comes to balance arguments. You SHOULD want both sides to be balanced, objectively, not for 'your' side to be stronger. And in order to have a valid opinion on it you also REALLY need to extensively play BOTH sides.

You're mostly right about needing to play both sides to have a good opinion. However, I think that if you take long-term experience into account, even a pure IS player knows what the general balance is. As long as that person is thinking properly and is reasonable, I suppose.
I think that IS mechs are just slightly better than clan mechs on average right now- I don't know what to do to change it. Mostly because I don't know much about clan mechs! Clans have just never appealed to me in lore- too rigid. I'd prefer to be a rowdy, hard-drinking, natural-born freebirth in my Mediocre Battletech Simulator , thank you!
