I believe both CWI and CWDG does this

I’m sick of losing at CW.

Really sick of it.

Last night Me and my rag-tag bunch of clanners dropped against the 12th Donegal Guards, 12 of them on Sulphurous and my god we were royally spanked. I’m guessing the 12DG were fully coordinated with Teamspeak and a cohesive battle plan where as we were just a bunch of casual players wanting a slightly longer match than normal assault or conquest who did not have the advantage of coordination or comms.

Now I’m not bitter, the 12th Donegal Guards played very well with the small exception of some spawn camping but why on earth were we pitted against them!?

Now I wanted to join a Clan but after putting my interest out there I was told I’d have to start as a Sibko (I’m not a child), then there were tedious interviews and regimented practice times and unfortunately I don’t have the time for that, I am a casual player who since closed Beta has probably only dropped £30 a year on this game and much as I like the lore the bigger clans do take it a little bit too far.

So why can’t a rag-tag group be pitted against another rag-tag group? I wouldn’t mind waiting a little longer in the queue but these ROFLStomps get a bit much, despite respectable scores in CW 5/6 I always lose and that can’t be right.

Sorry, rant over.

Humm after reading this, i fell sorry for you.

1st - unfortunate you didn't find a unit for your plan to paly the game, but...

2nd - there are a couple of units out with no restrictions to be part of, however...

3rd - even if you are into those you won't stand up with a 12 man of this unit against a 12 man that trains on a regular base.

In the end pug or unit it does not matter. The only thing a unit prevent you from is getting ****** up by 12man groups of lonewolfs who do not use communication at all, and have more swarm intelligence but can not read situations and how to play with teammate to overcome those to your advantage (but non trained units, could be crushed by small groups with that attitude provided by players out of biger units, which have training in tactics.)

So in the end you don't will see with 12man premade matched only against them a big change to your experince fighting well trained groups with skilled players. If however the system will cause that 12mans over all have to w8 to long to finde a match, than this would hurt cw more than the experince of Random-Players who get wiped out.

4th - if you search a unit that does roleplay, well then you have to commit to those rules. There is work around.

This is true, if you're in clan wolf. no matter whether you're in pug or a unit your teammates will be unspeakably bad

Just for the record, and to defend Wolfs against birdy- cheap-cheep-attitude. Well this is bell curve, some are very good and some are very bad - skillwise. But this is the least of a problem in clan wolf i guess. I have a strong feeling, that other clans and also is fractions are better in reading situations and react appropriate. This is lackluster thing in wolf, which look like CW-Players are "unspeakably bad.

The main problem is the CW population, specifically the lack of. You don't face people far out of your skill range in 12v12 drops because the matchmaker has ~6x more people (based on posted data) to work with. Until then, the organized will be fighting PUG's.

The one thing you can control is to join a unit. Generally the largest units are composed of "organized PUGs" that just want company & organization. My unit for instance doesn't do role-playing but we do have fun. Rank is present but RARELY influences anything, and no need for b/s to get in. There are also some teamspeak "hubs" where pug's & people from multiple units drop together.

P.S. 12DG will kick your ass even if you're organized. Luckily our unit fights along side & coordinates with them very successfully.

I'm right there with you - I've enjoyed my share of beatings as solo pug CW guy.

On the upside, I also soloed the last CW contest for the Stormcrow. There were so many pug players in the queues that the vast majority of the matches were pugs on pugs - and these were great matches, mostly close battles fought right to the end.

So really, the way I see it now is it is a question of player numbers. Without the contest as an inducement, the percentage of CW players who are dropping in organized teams vrs the whole population is very much higher - so the frequency of getting rolled by them is also very much higher.

It is actually kinda epic playing as a clanner now. We are lucky to see 4 man units on the clan side, and often drop against very good IS 10-12 mans. Losses are almost inevitable..( I have won maybe 1! game in the last few days) BUT it is a great chance to hone your skills as team drops around you. Even in a stomp you can get good scores, and that is likely the only source of satisfaction you will get atm, but still dropping a mech as last player on your team I satisfying.

I like and respect you for that. This is exactly how I felt in FRR when first joining.

If I wasn't an IS lore-*****, I would go clans for that exact same experience again.

The way I know it from House Marik and FRR you do not even need a unit.

You go on a TS, hop into a channel and ask "you guys have a spot". That´s it. Group ready.

I've been reiterating this for months; I'm glad someone else agrees.

In CW, if you drop, and you're alone or in small numbers, you can be more effective to your entire team by jumping onto the Teamspeak of the majority unit. Many of the units have their Teamspeaks posted to these forums.

Also, if you're alone and unaffilitated, the time might be to join a unit to train and play together. A 12-man is better than 12 random individuals.

Clan Wolf is Clan Mary Sue, just like how House Davion is House Mary Sue. Unfortunately for them, they don't get plot armor in MWO.

Guess I'll just have to use the Googles or something like a sensible person to figure out what Mary Sue means.

I have honestly never heard of that expression before, maybe it's a US thing.
