God This Is Going To Hurt......

I would like to thank PGI for listening to the antics of the community and dealing with the Urbie in the manner in which they did. The Days of the Urbie, the Event and the general all around fun poking Fun at it was well mannered.
More importantly the mech is viable.
Thank you.

Well, I suppose it could happen again, but I really doubt it.
I didn't even know or think about the Urbanmech before MWO. When I first heard about the mech, I thought it was a joke. Over time though, I got caught up in the excitement of the forums (like I'm sure many people did) and before long I was a converted Urbie fan and supporter.
Maybe the Flea has a chance. There seems to be love for it as well. If conditions are right and some key people get on board, it might gather some support and momentum. I don't think it will be as big as the Urbie, but it might be big enough.
I do think the Urbanmech was a perfect storm. Everything just lined up right to make it happen. I think the Flea could muster some of that energy, but not to the extent of the Urbanmech. Maybe it is the next thing to try though.

The next time you read a post saying 'PGI is noobs' just remember The March of the Urbie...

The Urbie took so long because it was seen as too slow and helpless to be in MWO. The community convinced PGI to make it with overwhelming support.
The Marauder on the other hand is being blocked by HG. I'm sure PGI would love to have the mech in game, but I think (to prevent a possible lawsuit), PGI needs HG to approve any Marauder re-work and HG has yet to sign off on any rework because they are sue happy bullies.
Sadly, no matter how much love the community has for the Marauder, it can never be.

Urban mech just goes to prove that they can take something unbalanced and do a lot with it if motivated properly. Sure the urban was unbalanced for the worse, but it show that rediculosly OP mechs can be introduced if they 'bend' the rules they've set out.

Did they purchase the IP outright, or just pay HG for licensing rights.
To me, it sounded like HG still owns the IP, but Sony has purchased the movie rights. (Licensing really)

No, selfmade marauder best marauder. Honestly as long as it feels like a marauder I want alex's redesign, even if some people that tend to scream in every thread around here don't always like what hes doing.^^
Id rather take that than haveing no Marauder ever.
Sony only bought the rights to make a new Robotech movie.

That's not the problem from what I have heard. The problem is, PGI has been trying to get HG to approve an alternate design and HG refuses to buy off on it. PGI could launch it anyway, but HG would probably serve a cease and desist order or hand them a summons to court just because the new mech is called Marauder.
Even though PGI, Microsoft, whomever would win with a new design, tens of thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and court fees isn't going to be covered by selling a Marauder in MWO.
The threat of a lawsuit is enough to keep the mech in limbo.
