Matches are to effect the galactic warfare.
So private servers would have no real purpose.

This.... so NO !
However.... im sure there will be Practice Matches that you will be able to set up, tho this will not have any sort of EXP or C-Bill, Salvage what ever Rewards... will just be for Clan/Team Matches to practice Skills and Tactics ect...

Piranha will most likely maintain their own servers. The game is F2P, so Piranha/IGP's income requires their ability to control/verify information about the game. While you could have the actual games hosted by rented servers and transactions done on Piranha/PGI hardware, there is the issue of meta-gaming. The results of the matches play a role in the shaping of the games landscape... borders, etc. so you need to have accurate results. Also as a large-scale game with such implications you don't want to have to deal with lazy server admins running 4 versions behind... or moron server admins kicking/banning people for being in the wrong corp/faction, using tactics/loadouts that they don't agree with, killing them, etc, etc... also the lazy/moron server admins are the single greatest security risk.
There's also the aforementioned Production Hardware that will be able to support many tens of thousands of simultaneous players. Not much need for that if they were going to rely on hosting sites.
I think I remember reading about training/non-ranked servers that would not affect the meta-gaming, so maybe there's a little wiggle room on that front.

This can still be done to achieve the same effect the poster wants without being a private 'dedicated' server. This will not affect cheating in any way, I imagine it will be the same as a public server without profile progression (XP/$$) and with a user set password and a simple map control interface. It will still be part of PGI's server farm and the user will have absolutely no control over anything aside from some game options, it's not like they will give users admin accounts so they can remote into the filesystem and wreak havoc XD.
How else can units/clans/guilds organize team events, practices, trials etc without their own space? Actually I would be very surprised if PGI doesn't take advantage of this. Tribes Ascend implements a similar framework, and from reading the MWO faction details it's almost an implied feature... It's not really a big deal to me at all, but from a technical standpoint it should be completely doable, h4x have no bearing on it.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but what I understood from the 2 minutes I watched is that it's explaining the gameplay which is a form of map domination that translates into in-game battles. Cool. But I think you completely misunderstood.
It is an irrelevant fact that clans/units can play together by forming groups for match making etc. We already know this, the point of the OP and my post is that some clans, especially competitive ones, will need their own private space for their practices/events/rituals/buttsecks etc. Clans should not have to go form a group of say 6 players then go troll a public server by completely ignoring the match and huddling together in a far corner of the map just to perform say... a 'Trial of Annihilation' . (And I bet you $$$ some people WILL do this lol.)

[PAUL] “We have a friend list system which will help you keep track of your friends who are online and playing the game. From the friend list, you can invite people to a chat group. You can then join a match with everyone in that chat group no matter what its size is (up to 12 players).
1v1 private chat and group chat will all be ready for you on launch. We will be adding additional functionality to this as the game grows.”
Otherwise it will probably be something added in later. Still looking...

The World of Tanks Clan Warfare is not so cool lol, cuz pretty much everyone uses Gold Ammo and Tier 10 Tanks lol... it is pretty much useless for anyone below Tier 9, since their tanks will not have a chance to join in Clan Wars....
I always hated Clan Warfare in WoT it is soo illogical and does not allow everyone to join in with what ever they want to Bring to the battle...
im hopping MWO will be different and more Fair for all to enjoy...

Where basically all you consume is ammo and all repairs and anything else is non-costing or having any lasting effect and be reset to pre-training battle levels after the round is done.
