I saw in a video that a dev stated that money can buy you better vehicles, but it cannot buy you skill. What is in the end game for players like me that have skill and money?
You make one bad point after another...
Better vehicles, tiers, higher tonnage than 100 tons, etc. so much wrong.
Your statement about changing colors of lasers is also a horrific idea.
TL;DR: Just because you play some games hardcore doesn't make you a game designer... you fail to see basic design decisions (colors of lasers) and fail to see the thing devs propagate as their biggest achievement - no rush for power (you like so much).

"So now that you have some income from the preorders,( you call them founders I call them preorders, I know its free to play but if someone is flopping down money on an unseen product, it's a preorder) time to upgrade those servers right? I really like the Mechwarrior series but cannot justify putting up $100+ on something I cannot examine."
well was going to post part of it but easyer to post it all

MWO has nothing to do with WOT. There is a tonn of other f2p games that share same economy.

There is no tier in mechwarrior. All weapons and armor are the same for any mech. You can kill any mech with any weapon. It's not like WOT, where you must pay real money to damage your higher-level opponent.

Color of the laser beam is somewhat different from just "color of glass". It's physics.

Pilot uses jumpjets to land as well, or he will break legs. All weapons have mininmum and maximum distance, if you played other mechwarrior titles, you should know that.

Not really. I mean yes, from the first glance it does. But MWO promises us more "horizontal" than "vertical" scaling in terms of asset advancement. It still retains a fair share of "vertical" differences, but generally speaking the difference betweeen the most munchkin lvl2 designs and more-or less useable lvl1 designs isn't as great as between a Maus and a Loltraactor. Essencially, the whole spectrum of possible mechs could probably fit in the typical level spread of a typical WoT random match.
Mongooser, on 02 July 2012 - 01:40 AM, said:
1) Premium mechs do not have EXP boosters AFAIK.
2) There will be NO mechs available through real money only. Maybe permanent bonuses and cosmetic differences of standart mechs, but nothing exclusive.
3) Money boost is much more moderate.
4) Premium account confirmed.

No. I think not. The core of WoT business model is the race for the top. Once you get da bestest stuff, there's nowhere to go and nothing much to do besides fielding the very same setups of the very same 1,5 tanks in CWs. Or pedobearing in murders and hellcats.
BT, by design, does not have space for much vertical progression, so devs hace to think of other ways to commit players to the game. It should be some major difference since, apparently, WoT devs are unable to think of any intensive (as opposed to extensive) ways to keep players playing.
Mongooser, on 02 July 2012 - 01:40 AM, said:
No. You are wrong. And judging by this you will not like the game. Again. Not much space to go stronger in BT. In fact, tonnage does not matter. Simply by design. Some mechs fail despite their tonns. Some mechs shine despite their tonns. Devs specifically said you will get access to all classes from the start. And no, going past lvl 10 would be a bad idea in WoT. First, it would still be the same extensive development. Second, there's nothing to put there. All lines merge in the bland "MBT" line. And the game mechanics get screwed by the new warfare (ATGMs, practically hitscan APFSDS at WoT ranges, completely different penetration mechanics for HEAT vs composite armour, reactive armour, dunnowhatelse).
Mongooser, on 02 July 2012 - 01:40 AM, said:
1) No gold consumables announced.
2) Player actions are not likely to reshape the map in any radical way. A few border planets may change hands, but anything beyond that is unlikely. Part of the reason is, every non-training game influences the map. Therefore the few pro-gamers are drowned in the pool of casuals.

Leave laser graphics alone. There are many balancing and in-universe issues involved to make lasers look what they are. To begin with, lasers should not "look" nor should they be of any "colour" since, IIRC, BT lasers are of non-visible wavelengthes. Traditionally laser are coloured by their type and size. Balance-wise and to distinguish them from pulse lasers, beam lasers are prolonged in time. While pulse lasers work in short pulses. And no, usual medium lasers are not the weapon you want to cycle for heat management. Heavy lasers or ER Large lasers in packs - yes, maybe. But typically - no. No sense in DPS when the target can turn around and prevent you from frying the same armour section. Cycling lasers spreads damage around a lot if the target is any good.

Falling damage has been confirmed in some videos. And if devs won't implement DFA, - brace for lynchmobs.
