My .02... You Sir, come off as the Troll.

You join, then proceded to spout off, without obviously reading the Dev' posts or Q&A's or any of the real relevant information on the site.

One Example, "I saw in a video that a dev stated that money can buy you better vehicles, but it cannot buy you skill. What is in the end game for players like me that have skill and money?"

So far as stated, you can buy for real money the "Founders Mech's" which give you 25% more cbills per match. That's all...

Everyone can save up and buy Varient chasis of their favorite Mech's. with cbills.. not Real Money.

And as stated by Russ and other Dev's; This game will be F2P and Not Pay to Win. Though you would have acutally had to read and get informed about the game first.

I don't care about the "Pro-gamer" crap, That was all self ego bosting there, and got the replies as to be expected.

If you would have gotten all the information available, then posted your .02 without sounding pretty pompous and as an "All knowing Lama" type. Your reception would have been a lot better. Because your OP does have some good thoughts and idea's in it. But, the presentation and title as such brought the type of response from the community.

If you do stick around and aren't just a troll, which I'm betting towards your not. You will find that the Piranha Games staff is very active here in the forums, and wants the communities feed back on a lot of things. Which showes they are on the ball a lot more than other game making companies.

The response is meaningless, as I don't let kiddies ruin my gaming experience, remember a game is played for entertainment. While I cannot promise I will play MWO, I will be sticking around, just will not be posting in the public forums anymore after I respond to the last post in this thread that I read today. I do not have any love or hate for the devs as the only titles that they have made, that I have played is NFS, which I had no complaints about.

As far as the devs being active on the boards, they should be, this is how they are going to get paid. The more you know your customers, the better you can cater to them. I still hope MWO will be awesome, but will be wait and see for me, a little disapointed about the kiddies on the forums, had thought would be older gamers here, but I stop letting kiddies bother me about... 9 years ago, crossroads really made me numb...

If that's him, I want his job, because my stats are almost as good, but I tinker around with arty a lot. An yes I've spent tons of money on WoT, and most of that money will be coming here, assuming the game is as good as we all think it will be. An just so you don't think I'm lying, here's my stats: http://worldoftanks....932-Sierra1968/. Also, for being a professional gamer, he /she doesn't, apparently, know how to do research properly. Technically, I could be a professional gamer too, as I've participated in several betas, some games made it to release, some didn't, and I was "paid" for my time by getting useful items, such as in-game currency/credits/gold/whatever the money metric happened to be to buy and try things out in-game.

You want me to spend a large amount of time researching a game I dont even know if I am going to play? I am in no way tied to MWO, I am just a old MW fan that was surprised he found this game a few days ago, was it wrong of me to make suggestions, ask questions? I mean I am interested in the game.

Considering you say you have played some MW games before I would have thought you would know that lasers have their own designated colours for example - ER Large Laser is red / Medium Laser's are green and so on so IMO saying that players should be able to change the colour is idiotic (lets all fire rainbows at each other ;) )

Next you say MWO is going to have tiers???

How do you not know that the BT universe cannot work this way? Did you not read anything the Devs have told us either?

I sincerely hope that MWO sticks to what they have said and you will change their mine and let you buy 'Mechs that people cannot get through just playing the game. They have said that you CAN NOT buy 'Mechs in a TYPE 59 / LOWE / KV5 fashion and I for one am over the bloody moon about that!

Next is the fall damage you mentioned (Hydraulics :) try Myomer bundles! ) there is going to be DFA which can damage your 'Mech there is even a module you can get to get lessen the damage but you would know this if you did a little research!

As for your WoT account (if it is yours) to me your just another Wallet Warrior that has paid to get where you are.

1. I did play MW games in the past and know the colors of the lasers, did not know the devs decided on not allowing players to change the colors, it was a suggestion.

2. I DID NOT say MWO was going to have tiers, however it does. LIght, Medium, Heavy, Asaault = 4 tiers.

3. I never said MWO cannot work, where did you get this from?

4. Think it is strange you say I am a wallet warrior I had ONE premium tank :)

Actually, no. They weren't the best suggestions in the world, but it's normal.

Problem is, you tied a few general hates into one thread:

1st: You compared this game to WoT, a comparrison noone likes after we got to know the game a bit better.
2nd: You joined the crowd of people asking for beta key, once again a thing noone likes.
3rd: Some of your suggestions directly contradict what devs are trying to achieve and that is not very appretiated here.
4th: And lastly, the tone you used was innaproprite to the situation (having no info on the game, yet supporting major changes).

With all this in mind, I hope you won't make such a mistake again... :)

Actually one reason for me to think twice about ordering a founder package (aside from the fact that I want to test the game first in beta) is that I do not want to progress "faster" or have heaps of free stuff and masses of gold in my account.

90% of the fun in such a game is to progress and EARN yourself stuff with the work you have done.
If you have all the stuff without earning and progress 4 times faster than normal players it's not only unfair it's also boring.

I'm not sure if OP is a troll.
"Pay to win" is definitely a business model that's short sighted and many players who might have quite a lot of money will be drawn away.
If there is a good balance between payers and non-payers a game has potential for longterm success, if it's mostly "pay to win" it will likely burn too hot to be a milestone in game history.

------

Aside this something else I've read more than one time already.
Battletech is well thought through, great scifi authors wrote some of the books, most stuff is believeable and has scientific background.
Changing the "color" or a LASER with a different lens is stupid and hopefully the designers have enough basic physics knowledge to avoid such stupidness.
The color of a laser is actually the frequency of it's emitted light. A lens can not change the color, it can only change the focus. A Lens in such a weapon laser is always set to infinity focus and will never change the "color".
While there are crystals that can modify the frequency of light, they may not be called lenses :)

Mr Mongooser, I dont know why you felt compelled to assert that you're a professional gamer in the first place, It doesn't really gain you any more credibility. Income aside, a professional gamer really is just an exceptionally good player at a given game, and most probably knows alot about that particular game by proxy. However that doesn't give a professional gamer anymore of a valid opinion on games, or the industry than that of many non professional gamers. A casual player might perform badly at a given game, yet they could be very knowledgable about the industry, social mechanics of gaming, and other business factors.

I've got a few friends that have played games professionally in their past namely counterstrike, and some of which are no more smarter about the gaming industry than me. You really didn't gain anything with such a proclamation, and definatly not by looking at the communities reactions lol.

However I actually do agree with a good portion of your statements such as

However:

I must confess I havn't played WoT myself, but know about it. Although I have played many simular Arena battle type games, with simular mechanics; the addition of extra vehicles may or may not been bad for the game, I cant really argue that point, you may be right.

Here you imply that they should surpass the level 10 cap? From a my (gamer) standpoint I strongly dislike cap increases, because they just creates nothing but a perpetual carrot grinds, increases the disparity between other players, and in'evitably creates stat inflation. When companies start increasing level caps, it's because they have ran out of Ideas, or have started to overvalue the profits vs the health of their consumer base. Depending on how many players vote with their cash, and accept Cap increases makes it more of a business decision, and not one based on player enjoyment, because the company could of done other factors to achieve the said effect, like your previous statement about "Content".

Editied for typos, and Clarification.

1. This questioned was answered earlier and the poster said that the game will progress where you can be stronger without increasing the tiers.(tonnage) This will be done by more modern weapons. I was just concerned that the devs would dig themselves a hole, like WOT did by saying they will never increase tiers. Since you can become stronger with more modern weapons, this is no longer a concern.

If you want a mature discussion, then make a mature thread, not: "Look at me, I'm the best here, the end. Now, this must be like this, because I'm the best and I know the best. Lastly, since I'm so best, I should get invited, unlike every noob here!"

That is not a mature way of doing threads. Think before posting and we'll be nicer to you. :)

LOL being nicer to me is not a desire, I am interested in the game, not holding your hand :)

Let me ask you - If he is, indeed, being fat headed, why call him out on it? Calling him out on it whether true or not only leads to a dilution of serious discussion. Not calling him out on it whether true or not avoids this, and has potential to drive serious discussion.

Look, man. Even in your post, you completely ignore what I have to say about the content of this discussion. It seems you'd much rather fuel the drama.

Also, the developers are not gods. They can make mistakes, and many have before them. They can also be short sighted or simply unconvinced of a truth. Whatever it may be, they're obviously making attempts to ask the community what they think. While the popular opinions may be spoken the loudest, it does not discount the unpopular ones.

The beauty of making mistakes is that you learn from them and not repeat them. The best devs that make games are the ones that learn very quickly :)

Yes, the games are being churned out, but fall far short from expectations. Look at SWTOR, yeah it is a money maker but changed many MANY times in beta becuase what the devs "thought" the gamers wanted was either wrong or could not be implemented into the game because of the engine/resource restrictions. Diablo3 was another major title that fell far short of gamers expectations, while many players felt that the RMAH ruined the game, the coin pharmers are making a killing, yet Bliz already lost 30% of it's core gamers in the first 60 days.(I can't complain because I am doing very well on the RMAH)

Now look at a really small title like Jagged Alliance Back In Action, short dev time, low budget, when it came out the vet Jagged Alliance fans trashed it. BUT the devs quickly added what the gamers wanted,(mainly FOW and better mob AI) and the game made them enough money to make a sequel.(of course them making a sequel is just a rumor - wink) Look at all the other titles that tried and bombed Brigade E5, 7.62MM, etc... This is the same as Xcom, this is commonly known as the best game in the history of gaming yet every copy cat dev cant get it right: UFO Aftermath, Aftershock, Afterlight, etc... Now UFO Extraterrestrials was "O.K." and the devs decided to let one of the top modders of the game actually be a dev and work on UFO Extraterrestials 2, which is supposed to be released later this year.(I am hoping it does well, gotta love Xcom)

Knowing that Piranha games does not have any history in online gaming or had anything to do with the original Mech Warrior series scares me. I WANT the game to be fun and a success, but I don't always get what I want, as I am not a 12 year old with a lollipop in my mouth. Nothing wrong with holding on to your money until you can get in the beta or wait for release. While I would be more then happy to cough up $120 to be a founder and enjoy the benefits, I simply do not want to throw $120 at a flop, so I will wait and see. Mech Warrior was released in '89,(the same year I finished my enlistment with the U.S. Army) so the majority of hardcore Mech vets are 40+, and older gamers expect more because we have seen more and are not so easily impressed with massive eye candy, but crappy gameplay. I was horrified when I logged on to see this thread today because if you read all of this thread you will see all the kiddie and troll posts, this is the MWO community? Really? The reason I started this thread has nothing at all to do with proving if I am or am not a pro gamer, it has to do with THE GAME.

Thought I should mention this for your benefit since you seem to be under the impression that Pirahna is the developement team responsible for the game, while I'm sure they are contributing to the developement, the actual 'braintrust' for the game is Smith and Tinker, which semantics aside is as much FASA as it is reasonably possible to call them without actually -being- FASA, so yes, Pirahna has no background with MW but then noone has had anything to do with the franchise since microsoft bought the license and made that crappy xbox game. S&T are probably the only people who us old school MW fans would recognise as capable of reinvigorating the franchise and after a decade of waiting I'm just happy it's finally coming about XD

So... your not promising to play MWO which is a Free 2 Play game and therefore would cost you nothing, nor are you bothering to read up on the game. Yet you've bothered to register, state your opinion, with having read none of the aformentioned information available to you on these forums and yet somehow claim you are interested in this game. So naturally many have come to the conclusion that you are a troll, and they seem to be quite right in their supposition.

Also Devs dont get paid to be on forums they get paid to actually work on the game itself, something a 'professional gamer' would know.

I'm so curious, who paid you to play WoW, and for what purpose? Surely it wasn't Blizzard.

MPS paid me to play WOW,(If you have ever been an MPS member I was MPS_Mongoose) Blizzard offered me a position when I was the first player in WOW to cap out all the classes. If you played WOW in the first year of release you probably know me or have heard of me. I turned down the position with Blizzard because it was a volunteer position and I was already being paid to play it. Now if one of the kiddies wanna run their mouth about me stating I was offered a position by Blizzard and turned it down, I still have the letter in a shoe box, somewhere. I will be more then happy to have the wife look for it, but I will want paid for wasting my time proving reality to kiddies :)

I don't know, I still kind of doubt the TC's credibility.

Maybe if he had called everyone "kiddies" two or three more times, I could have believed that he is a mature, reasoned adult with good ideas and paycheck from some unnamed entity that is somehow connected to the video game industry.

LOLwut? Cry about them making a great game and staying true to everything we love? There's no crying here, champ.

My problem, as with everyone else here, is that you want to come in here, offer your "expert opinion" as if it's fact, demand a beta key, and not actually contribute anything with little to no idea what Battletech, MechWarrior, or MW:O is actually about. What MechWarrior did you play, 3050 on the SNES? Come on brohan, manner up.
