Well a stock Leopard has 80 SHS, or 70 DHS for the upgraded one... so heat still isn't an issue for them...

Armour wise:

Normal Dropship.
Front: 140 (280 for MWO)
Side 130/130 (260/260 for MWO)
Aft: 100 (200 for MWO)

Pocket Warship:

Front: 339 (678 for MWO)
Side: 254/254 (508/508 for MWO)
Aft: 169 (338 for MWO)

These are just the stats for the Leopard, not something you want to trade shots with, it'll win....

it's more about hitting a vary, vary fast moving target... It's hard as hell to hit a Jet fighter with a ground based turret, especially a single shot one...

Instead of three Leopards dropping wave after wave of mechs to the slaughter (pick a side), they SHOULD have had ONE Union dropship LAND and be that side's "spawn camp deterrent".

Get to see some cool in-game model of a union.
Fix spawn camping.
Make more sense......

It's a win/win.

To solve the Invasion / Counter Attack spawn camping problem, they should park a Union or Overlord drop ship at the LZ and have the waves come out that way. Let them have all the TRO PPCs and AC20s and let them punish any defending player trying to spawn camp.

Like what cdlord said above.

Admitedly, I've never seen it either. However, that's more because not many play Battletech with dropships, and those that do are not generally keen on letting anyone take potshots at them.

Picture may have been flipped, so that it looks like the cockpits on the left instead of the right.
