The problem with CW is that it takes you, conservatively, 15 minutes to actually drop in a match, then matches last at least 20 full minutes. Adding them up thats 35 minutes minimum for a CW match. Comparte that to an 8 minute regular match on average. That is 4X as long. I get home from work and have a limited time to play, I would rather get in 15 or so matches rather than 4. CW has to wait till the weekend for me....

It's not that CW is soul-crushingly dull.

Oh, no, wait, it is that.

I'm bored of it. Nothing crazy, no major life events, not even other games or anything. Just bored. It's very repetitious and derivative and there are only so many times I can do the same thing over and over before I just quit.

Too many ERLLs for my liking.

Either that, or just PUGstomping for hours on end...not very fun either way.

MW:O has not evolved and progressed since i restarted playing it, no new maps, no improved hit reg , even less mechwarrior feel. All the additions feel like cash grabs to me, ie reinforcement mechs with superior quirks etc.

with more and mroe games coming into the market, it is pretty much guarantee that your either evolve or die

Yeah. I can count on one hand the good CW games I've been in. Like many public matches, a savvy player can know the outcome with 95% certainty in the first two minutes. But, unlike public matches, you're then there for 20-25 minutes most times. The only way I've really enjoyed it is in small groups ("hard mode"). There is nothing quite like stuffing a 10-man with a 3-man, but that's still very rare.

It's also hard to give a damn about the results of the match when there is basically no meaningful progression beyond changing dot colors on the faction map. If you're not a merc farming mechbays, the faction rewards for LP are incredibly underwhelming and there's really no motivation to even change dot colors.

Edit Note: Plus, the whole experience is on rails anyway so who gives a damn?

Oh, no, wait, it is that.

You obviously don't appreciate the complexities of zerg rushing the generators. The many subtle layers of tactics and strategy as you increase throttle to 100%, press the Override button, ignore everything around you and shoot a building untill your mech falls down. The zen-like emptiness in your mind as you blindly repeat the same procedure over and over, untill the match is over. The nerve-wracking suspense of guessing whether the other team will come through Alpha or Beta gate. And the relief when you notice it makes no difference, because it's fairly easy for the defenders to position themselves in time anyway.

@OP: For a while, people suffered through CW because they figured the boring gameplay was a necessary sacrifice to conquer the galaxy and get their unit name on the galaxy map. People even spent several hours of their life spawn camping in order to occupy the good teams and prevent them from getting into new matches. They called it masterful strategy and deemed it a great way to spend their free time.

And then Russ revealed that the galaxy map would be reset a number of times anyway, and eventually people started wondering why they were suffering through the boring gameplay with the excessive waiting between matches and low rewards. And I guess a few people may have snuck away, feeling a bit silly about the hours they wasted.

This^^^^ and that other one above^^^ ;)

I tried to get in on some CW tonight.... not really worth the effort or my time. Its like a ghost town in there, I believe Alistair Hit it on the head.

To every person reading this thread....if you agree, please copy the image of good old Al and paste it with your reply. God, I loved watching that show... kinda like My name is Earl, good times. Much like Al learned... I am hiding my wallet in my shoes so (PGI and company) Peggy and kids don't get anymore cash till something gives.
