Wouldnt it be more players if this game on steam? Many f2p online games have moved to steam and achive great success.

It's going to be, but they want to fix it up first. So, give it a few years.

It will probably be on steam at some point this year, which has been mentioned in several interviews.

Because it's sure as hell not ready. The new player experience is practically null.

The reviews for the current MWO would be hilarious.

I would recommend that we make a list of things to bring this game up to Steam Release capable but then again I don't think the current web server could hold the traffic and this forum is not large enough.

We could try it with this sized font.

It will not matter if they fix everything the community wants, or if they fix nothing.
there are so many butthurt mwo and ex mwo players around that i can guarantee you abysmal player reviews.

The refusal of PGI to fix things that are widely known to be broken means this game will never be ready for Steam.

The NPE and other various polish needs to be taken care of before we go that route. If we Steam'd MWO in its current state, we would only have a relatively low net gain in the long run, while Steam would be eating a small portion of the game's profit's (because that's how Steam makes money).

We need to fix items such as...
  • Paulconomy (Grind)
  • Tutorials (Get better ones, maybe even AI targets)
  • In-Game Mechanics Documentation ("Mechopedia" with every little detail about the game, accessible in-game)
  • Cadet Bonus Time Extension, probably (25 games sure as heck ain't enough)
  • Somewhat crappy trial mech design (LOL XL Stalker and 16 leg armor Raven)
Perhaps more that I can't remember right now.

Well I think if PGI get their focus going in the right direction, it could be a matter of a couple months before MWO would legitimately be ready for Steam.

Things they need to prioritize
#1. Hitreg
I know that they're going to be looking into this, but without hitreg working properly its going to be a major turn-off, and quite easily a deal breaker for new gamers or vets that try out MWO.

#2. Maps
They have Oooooodles of assets now, and could easily start turning out a map every 2 weeks, just to break the monotony of River CIty and Forrest Colony taking up so much of the rotation, Every map doesn't have to be some completely new unique masterpiece, just some fresh terrain and things to toss in strategy besides just running in circles all day.

#3. Bugs
There really aren't a whole lot of outstanding bugs, other than just map related annoyances and the occasional OOPS that keep popping up on patch days and get just as quickly fixed.

#4. Economy
Its pretty obvious that Rewards 2.0 needs some adjustment, plenty of posts and opinions swinging both ways, its close, but needs some tweaking.
Early starters will need to be making enough $$ to need to buy mech bays, and grow their interest as well as their inventory, if they're not making enough $$, the grind will turn them away before it entices them to spend real $$ IMO.

#5. Performance
Getting better every time they try to improve it, My FPS have gone way up the last 2 patches, its a good sign.

They're really not in a bad spot tbh.

Because it's not ready. PGI is smart to take their time until this game is ready for new players.

etc etc etc

You are quoting the 2 most succesful freemium games and should not be a standart for the whole industry.

And if you think this game doesn't need help....

LMAO and you think they can fix any of those things before the license runs out in 2018. ;)

The game is just not ready. Too many features are just half baked.

Look at mech efficiencies, for instance. Pinpoint does absolutely nothing. Arm reflex is completely useless for several mechs, and pointless for all others. Who the heck needs faster arms? The Urbanmech cannot benefit from Twist-X in any way.

Those definitely need to be looked at. Being left in that state for so long is actually a little alarming.

You all left out the most important thing: game modes.

The current gamemodes are stale, repetitive, and obviously placeholders. Conquest is the most interesting. Skirmish should remain. Assault is glaringly meaningless (two enemy bases placed 2km apart on the same planet? Why???) and needs to be at the very least incentivized, with one objective becoming a destructible dropship. Then we need convoy escort, some form of turkey shoot, I'd love to see MWLL's theater of war deal...interesting reasons to play.

What, 1 new game mode a year is not a good enough quota?

Who knew?
