I thought I read somewhere a short while ago about the possibility of allowing player generated decals for the mechs.

Just so happens I know an amazing artist who does really good work, whom I would love to make some art for my mechs.

What do you think? Is it even possible with this code?

I haven't heard anything new about player created decals, except there isn't any plans for it due to a number of issues like getting player content into the game and then distributing it to everyone else, legal issues, etc.

But there is a decal system in work that will have pre-made decals to put on the mechs. Hopefully more information about that in the town hall going on now.

Do it the way forza motor sport did on xbox, a player had a set number of layers to work with and a library of shapes and colours at their disposal.

By layering and overlapping like building graphics with vinyl some truly great looking stuff was possible and there is zero risk of players introducing their own content so the game can reconstruct any players work for in match display.

The only risk is ensuring players keep it respectable just like their chat or user names.

I would love nothing more than to see a bunch of mechs running around with images of their twig and berries on them.

I remember doin lil MSPaint-ish decals in old Armored Cores like, last millenium. Was kinda cool I guess.

You know what... If puerile idiots want to put penis decals on their Mechs, it just doesn't bother me.

They can just as well hang a sign on their Mech saying "I have no imagination and the sense of humour of a toddler".

Trying to design a whole decal system around the need to prevent immature morons from being immature morons is just an unnecessary endeavour.
