It's probably going to be a fun event, and it's a neat test of something a little different than usual for the game.

It's a shame that it won't have any real consequences, though. If the IS wins, it's not like they can just make every clan player stop playing. If the clans win, then I guess the war is over and Battletech history would have been rewritten?

But neither is going to happen, the map is just going to be reset and every battle that's happened on this long first phase of beta means nothing.

I'd almost rather see MWO go with an alternate history for each season, i.e. next season the home clans (Diamond Shark, Steel Adder, Snow Raven, etc) invade instead, or maybe a different invasion corridor happens, maybe they just set up the territory map to give each faction an equal size and shape to start. I know none of these would be canon, but then, what's about to happen is going to break canon anyway.

At least it will be fun to shoot people over the weekend.

As Khan of Clan Diamond Shark : Diamond Shiver, I give support for the alternative timeline scenario.

Hopefully this event brings more players out of the PuG/lone wolf mentality into the CW side as a whole!

Just like the last CW Event, luring them in with free stuff is easy. Keeping them in CW once the Event is over has proven to be very elusive.

I find it funny that this event lines up closer to the old timeline than the current one.

The rate at how the IS is taking back planets now, IS just did 5 years + in the time of 1 week.
Relatively, this battle takes part in 3 months in MW: O community time.

Look back at how quickly the clan advanced THE SAME DAY they took the TDR-9S from us...

Meh give clans their range back and superior lasers and I'd be more eager to try this out.

Not if you actually played by the rules of Zellbrigen. The irony is the clan will get it's ass whooped & whine about quirks, all while playing as 3 lances instead of 2 stars & using all of the "dishonorable" tactics available.

Your reading comprehension needs work, as you take a great deal of things out of context and also fail to acknowledge everything written, merely taking the few words out that you want to glorify your own point of view.

You're the kind of person who will not be satisfied no matter what anyone says and are not worth responding any further to. The use of a meme video in a conversation shows that. Good day.

Yes let us just blow by the fact that I soundly rebuffed everything you said, and that it was not you that had a problem conveying what you meant.

I have friends who are in the game industry, and friends who are coders as well as a room mate and long time friend..

You are talking from.. your butt?

I don't think stuff magically happens in a system, nor am i the kind of person to not change my mind no matter what.

I am the kind of person who thinks that if you can not use a system for its intended purpose when you have company backing to help you out, you have failed.

If you can not ride a bike, it is not the bikes fault, it is yours. And jumping onto that, if you can not ride a Mountain bike along a dirt path It is not the bikes fault, it is meant to do that, you just suck at it.

Just like if you are using an engine that is designed to be able to do these kinds of things, have Cryteks blessing on it, and company backing, ("Hey.. someone from Crytek teach us") but you can not figure it out, it is your fault.

Mind you that some amateurs did far far more content in a simple freebee mod for Crysis Wars to make Living Legends, ..oh ..and guess what? Living Legends had much more done (Except a mech bay build system) then MWO has..

I will tell you what kind of person I am, I DO think that if you have 4 years and MICROSOFT BACKING to do something with one of their IPs, you better be able to put out more then a visually downgraded, mechanics stripped, Demo Disk suited game!

Took the Thunderbolt from you? You mean you don't have it? ..Oh wait.. you mean that it was no longer broken.. Boo hoo boo hoo. It's still a kick ass mech and can easily take on clan mechs if you know what you are doing.

and yeah.. you know.. Clan mechs where suppose to be BETTER, The honor system was there to balance them. The maker of the clans said they where way to OP and it was a dumb idea, but STILL.

The Clan Mechs are not better, Not by a long shot, the onlything the Timber and the Storm Crow have is the ability to do everything good, which.. makes up for the fact all the rest are STILL alright to trash!

Not that fast, from memory 2 clans only gained a small amount of planets, Smoke jaguar however on the other hand has a different story but only 1 boarder so eeeeeh, complicated situation.

You also kinda forget a lot of IS players switched to clan.

The problem with this game is the middle 50% of the population that is one day fighting to capture the planet they just captured for a different faction a few days ago.

Looks like everyone will get a chance to experience / reenact the meat grindger, that was Wazan, at the beging of CW.

P.S. if you do chose to participate, for "better" experience do not que up solo, use the LFG feature. Also by what ever still holly do not drop in trial / un elited mech.

Ah wazan what a battle that was.

I wonder if the Tukayyid event will be able to match the kill count on that planet?

:)

What!!! Thats just silly to say. The event will be remembered, why wouldnt you want to take part in it?

Hmm, the last CW event that I par-took in wasn't really pleasant. They've lured me in that with the free premium time for the first reward, But once I've faced an organized unit as a PUG, I was all too ready to bail out.

Chances are, this event will be no different, & if the rewards aren't juicy, I'm not biting on this lure. Hell, even if they are, I might still bail out mid-flight, as in my mind, nothing is worth having to become food that the organized units get fat off of.

I'm pretty excited about the event and will participate for sure! I will be the PUG guy using the LFG tool just released of course, and will most likely be the one all the hardcore players are complaining about. So for the hardcore competitive player let me apologize now for annoying you. That said I am going to have fun no matter what and will most likely just laugh when/if you start complaining of PUGs taking over CW. Well at least I am guessing that will happen, I could be wrong, but with CW taking off PUGs will invade it so be ready. Luckily this event wont be my first CW drop, I have participated in maybe two or three CW matches total so far. That makes me an expert at not knowing anything about it really, but an expert none the less!

Also I am not even doing this for the rewards. My guess is a match score of 80 using the LFG as a PUG will be all but impossible. But look at the bright side, PUG groups will make it easier for the rest of you, unless we are on your team! LOL

Anyway, enough being cynical about PUGs and the jerks that hate them. As a long time BT and MW fan and someone that has literally played every game they have ever released this is super exciting. If you are one of the many complainers of this event (just read through the posts there are several) you can stick it! This is going to be awesome!!!! And for those of you who are only about the rewards, I am almost with you but I would truly participate without any reward incentive. It would be cool to have something unique just for participating though (Title, Skin, Achievement of some type maybe). But in the end I think the reward is just being able to drop into a few matches!

Hope everyone has as much fun as I will!!!!

This event had better have some really, REALLY juicy rewards at the end. If it doesn't, them I know which planet to stay the hell away from.

There won't be other planets to fight for.

This event will serve 2 great purposes -

1.) It will help PGI test the new gamemode attack/defend algorithem.

2.). It will be a nice "endcap" to the Beta 1.0 version of CW before they reset the map.

Unfortuneately my computer is offline and I'll be with my kids all weekend, so I won't be able to play... But there will be other, better events as the CW Beta matures.

I have a question.

Originally the battle of Tukayyid was not between the Clans and the assembled Inner Sphere. It was just a contest between them and ComGuard, since ComStar held Terra. No Inner Sphere Lord send troops. No Inner Sphere gouverment felt bound by its outcome.

The announcement sounds differently. Is that a conscious deviation from lore or is it just PGI writing a sloppy announcement?

Yes, go on and laugh about people immersed in the lore. I couldn´t care less.

We don't have a choice in how we drop. I'd like to drop in stars. 4 stars vs 5 lances (20 vs 20 since PGI balanced IS and Clan with each other... right? >.>) would be ideal if PGI had the capacity for it. But most of our maps are struggling to hold even 24 mechs, let alone 40. River City anyone?

Concerning dishonorable tactics. Rules of Zellbrigin do not apply to Spheroids as they proved time and time again in the first wave not to follow it (They after all, didn't even know what it was). Thus, in the Clans eyes, the Inner Sphere has no honor and is not deemed worthy of being shown honor. This lent even more credit to the Crusaders argument for invading Inner Sphere space.

Yes, cause PGI cares so much about lore as they have shown (Golden Mechs? IS having Com Star only or Lostech Mechs? for instance?)

but yeah.. I don't know if it is them trying to rewrite history for their own cannon or pure incompetence at this point.

Greetings all,

A very good point about what IS 'Mechs will face the Clans for this CW Battle.

- We have not been shown or offered any 'ComStar' 'Mech elements.
- These 'Mechs were 'in most cases' far superior' to anything that the Factions held, and closer in tech to the Clans than the IS.

The Great Houses Factions were not involved in any of the Battles fought in this event. Very few even had the numbers that ComStar could field. ( and till these Battles, secret from the Factions knowledge, just how extensive it was.) We'll still be using the same 'Mech's that have fought the Clan 'Mechs since there game release.
- A complete reversal of all the Lore and past games storyline.
- Unless suddenly - only - SLDF 'Mechs showed up in the IS's selection list for the Battles, will we see a challenge to most of the Clans weapons and ranges. Many of the elements of the Battles history are missing, massive arty use by ComStar, mines and traps set for the Clans, dug in positions ComStar used, terrain effecting movement and slowing Clan 'Mechs.
- Just some of the referenced elements that were effectively used by ComStar in this 'Verse' changing event, after this Battle nothing was ever the same.

Just some concerns,
9erRed
