So got a ways to go, and yeah, I know it's not the weird waddling barrel of some of the original art, but seriously, we wouldn't build a mech looking that silly and awkward now, seems stupid that a mech built 400 years in the future would look like something from a Lost In Space.
And the finished (i think, at least for now) version
Thoughts?
Looks good for its age.

Maybe it's the pose, but it's looking rather too agile to be "the galaxy's first BattleMech". But of course, once something is done for the first time, improving on that something tends to leap it forward rather quickly. Thus, the Mk. II could very likely be significant upgrade based on field experience feedback.
But I love that AC! Looks like they pulled it off a tank and attached it directly to the shoulder. And those bulky sensors, turreted belly guns, and slab-like armour... just retro-awesome.

Yeah. I figure, the Mackie was built all the way until the Amaris Usurpation. And it was upgraded with advanced tech over that time. So this is likely a later era SLDF "SLEP" model.

God, Bishop. Your art is always amazing. I love that version of the mackie. It's not as urbie as I want it to be (I want everything to be a bit urbie!!!), but I WANT that mech.

actually, I really like how you did it. Thought it was true to the original idea but a neat way of handling it.

Progress!? Sort of. I am learn things.
I had some sick time so I sat down and played with this. Something confusing happened to the knee and certain other parts when I was hitting the medicine. I will try to fix that sometime.
V V V Edit: Thanks buddy. I think next time I take a crack at this I'm going to experiment with adding more light source based shadows and highlights? like you have in your shaded picture.

Progress!
Modified the line art on the knee and the arm. Added some shading and a layer for camouflage and effects. Colored the tank and added some detail. I'm probably done tweaking it for now. Thanks for letting me art on your art!
