I know it is possible to launch damaged and missing an arm... as Russ Bullock said in an interview with PC gamer recently that soemone actually launched without having his arm repaired and it was missing.

I truly hope they make a server where you can permanently lose your mech if the damage is bad enough.
Course, this would **** people off who pay with real money so we'll never see this happen.

I think Pirates of the Burning Sea style durability points could also work. That means you can get destroyed only a few times, then it is total destruction. And if you steal/salvage/win-after-batter/somehow-get-from-other-play a mech it only has 1 durability.
I think having a winner takes the spoils type of thing in guild/clan battles would be awesome. Imagine if you sweep the table on some company and are able to salvage 3-4 mechs to replace your losses. Even if these salvaged mechs are treated differently from your regular stuff I would be happy with that.

To be fair, regardless of whatever it says in the ToS, if they actually tried to leverage any of that supposed power, they'd probably find themselves eating a facefull of class-action lawsuit. If they really wanted to be scumbags, they'd follow the Riot Cycle; buff champion, release new skin for champion, let champion be borderline "too strong" for a month or two, nerf champion again, pick new champion and repeat from beginning.
Well yea, they would be in trouble if they actually took that stance. It will, however, allow them to get around any gambling restrictions, because the owner of the property in question never actually changes.
Blizzard on the other hand actually tried to do something with this we own everything stance, and look how that turned out. The Diablo III auction house is a prime example of you not owning anything. I've heard of a few reports where items are lost, and people who stood to gain money though it ended up getting nothing at all because of a glitch. The official response from Blizzard seems to be you never owned those items anyway, so you can shove off.
I only hope PGI never lets anything like that make it into their game,

I doubt you'll lose a lot when your mech "dies" in a battle. Matches are only going to be 15-20 minutes, and people will be playing continuously. I can see you having to pay a repair fee that will lessen the amount of c-bills you won in the game, maybe a percentage of them. but for the most part, you'll be good to go for the next round!
