It wasn't designed badly.
It was designed for the wrong market.

It was designed to allow for players to drop 4 Mechs in 30 minutes or less.

Despite what most hardcore players would have you believe, 90% of players these days just don't want to play any game that 1 Match that might last over >1.5-2.0 hours. Imagine CW with HUGE Maps and players who would hide first chance they got... :(

P.S. Please note, when the CW crowd does gather in numbers, although rare for now, CW drops are quite fun and efficient. ;)

In other words you are saying it's your fault, when you get spawncamped and prevented from playing the game, for trying to play the game.
I haven't BEEN spawn camped.

There's really nothing left for me to say.
Got that right!

That's just a really narrow and pessimistic way of looking at things...with a proper roleplay & storyline element, with acceptable game balance and variety, this game would be able to fullfil alot more than a small-populace "niche".
Yeah Cause the BattleTech Universe did just that! Name me one Giant Robot game that is killing it in video games/Gaming?

It's not Pessimism. I love this game and the universe it's spawned from, I'm just a realist.

WTF does any of that have to do with the vast majority of the player base not playing CW because it was designed badly?

Have you designed a Game Ever Kilo? I have not designed a game from scratch, But I have DMed. And as a DM I have had players try to tell me How to run my games. It never ended well for the player. Ever. Not once. That guy/girl left and the game went on. For months, some for years till I felt the game had run its course.

CW is not designed yet. It's in the process of being designed and thus there isn't much to it. You are looking at a fetus of a game and calling it handicapped. It's on its 1st 2nd pass and you think it's ready for player consumption? Dude wait till its finished being worked on, then judge it.

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Guys, Girls, Mech Pilots.

Slow Down!

CW is not bad it's just not done yet, because of that I choose not to play it. My post was just to commensurate with destroika.

The devs and the rest of PGI are trying their best. This is a business after all.

Ya they have stumbled a bit here and there. Run in to a Lamp post or two, it happens. :)

Lets thank them for what we have and encourage them to do better.

That is the advice I'm getting left and right, "just avoid community warfare." - Unless you're a hardcore unit. Otherwise, you're cannon fodder.

At the same time, I'm being told it's being used as intended. Good communication and coordination along with decent skill as a plus.

So there you have it. In short, CW is working perfectly, so avoid it.

-----

It just seems like something is wrong with this. Story of MWO. Until I get my free MC from ranks, I won't stop completely pugging in CW, but I will be going less and less, meanwhile, getting more and more burned out. This is good, maybe I will have such a severe distaste and hatred for this game I can finally put it away for good.

I play CW all the time

It’s the only way to keep up with things and to test your Mechs to see if they work

Just find the TS server for your faction and team up with a unit or other people

All Im going to say is that currently the galaxy map is a festival of synch dropping. Dont expect a fair fight and players will be ok.This weekend star map event may thin out the synch dropping so it should be fun.

Other than that I dont expect to much until the game has expanded the player base alot. The 4 v 4 will help also. Maybe other additions and changes.

The problem with your post is that there is no sync dropping in cw, because there is no need to sync drop since there is no group limit. Form a 12 man and drop, or drop with a group of less than 12 and pugs will fill in the rest of the group.

If those "Players" even knew what a "design decision" actually entailed, I might be more inclined to agree with that statement, but the Forums constant supply of BS "best for MWO content" continues to prove that assumption moot and totally incorrect.

that doesn't make any sense at all.

But feel free to carry on "deciding" what you think is best for MWO from your development armchair.

if by "deciding" you mean "giving my opinion on the official game forums, that are there for players to give their opinion on things like game design" I will, thanks.

a baby goes from 2 cells to full grown baby in 9 months. exactly how long is this fetus of a game mode going to be designed?

hell, 4v4 went for "progressing nicely" according to Russ back in march/april, and now we aren't looking to see it until fall. but thank god they went for priority items like spectator tools instead...

Hailz all:

Only catch is you have to keep that nine month old baby around for about 18 years to fully develop and hope it doesn't take up permanent residence in your basement. So give the games some time to develop and relax. Couldn't resist saying this. LOL

We (I) need to be direct and exact on what we like in this game first then express our feelings about thing's we don't like. I say that having neglected to do that in the past my self. Unlike mech's we do not have physical/mechanical or software limiting switches to keep us from shooting our selves in the foot when we trigger our comments at a perceived threat; at a fleeting shadow in our peripheral vision or a sensor pop tart.

Mea culpa, Mea culpa

Short version -- Engage Mind then keyboard. My Bad.
