2x PPC 4x MG and enough heat sinks to fire without worrying about overheating.

Was having so much trouble with this build before, this is beautiful thanks =D

what will be the most help to the nova is a size reduction

that build is old, personally i moved to 2 machine guns and 2 ppc's and placed the ppc's in the right arm and right torso to avoid the overly large hit boxes and dead side with the left arm and left torso at the expense of 2 machine guns.

Has nothing to do with it being old, the heat efficiency previously was garbage.

I was struggling to do 400 damage a game and now today alone I've had 600, 700 and 800 damage games, its absoloutly night and day.

basically your talking about the nova-a arms that are now available in the mechlab that have the 15% erppc velocity and -6% heat quirks combined with the nova S torsos with 4mg.

for anyone that was having a hard time following along...

You're forgetting the best part, the ability to rip off a ludicrous amount of armor to fit more heat sinks and still be completely viable.

You do realize this build got nerfed right? The previous generic energy gave 10% reduced heat. Now it's 6% for ERPPCs.

Placebo effect. It got 4% worse with the new quirks.

Since it got velocity buff.

Btw using MGs with this build is dumb, where is the ******* synergy for these weps...............ugh... put the 2 ppcs in shoulder, so you can tart properly with em, n shave off arm armor to double down on more cDHS.

Same concept as the old 3D... :ph34r:

No, the PPC's in each arm allow me to manage my heat better and MG means i can literally do nothing but spam my PPC and MG's in close range without heat concerns.

Considering I just pulled 1300 damage with it, I think it works perfectly as is.

You'll overheat in 3 alphas on Terra Therma, and that's going max cDHS instead of MGs...

Not exactly spammable.

Firing single shots on Alpine on a perfect chain cadence, you get off 9 before overheating.

Now, I'm also using the B shoulder so it's a tiny bit faster firing rate, but again I'm using more cDHS than you.

I wouldn't call that spammable, I'd call SL/SPL boat spammable when discussing Novas, but w/e, I guess we differ on what spam is.

I just know jump brawling with PPCs is risky unless you have a deadeye. You'd wanna be twisting anyways in between PPC recycle time since it's not hitscan... has a notable chargetime... so that's why I say MG synergy is bunk (when combined with the range discrepency). We didn't duel with PPCs so we could stare at each other in between shots and let them place where they wanted, which is what bulletstream [hitscan] allows.

W/e I don't judge mechs much, this isn't meant to step on toes. Do your thang.

I've devoted all my heat sink capacity to my PPC's, allowing me to fire near constantly. Think of the heat sinks as available bandwidth, the more I have the more I can fire energy weapons. I'm freeing my PPC's up to do as much damage as possible by allowing them to utilize every single ounce of my Heat Sinks bandwidth. Since 4 machine guns is equal to ~3-3.5 small lasers but NO heat cost I am maximizing my close range dps by not having to share my limited heat with another energy weapon.

My thoughts about the build is that it really shouldn't even be anywhere near range to even use those MGs.

Open up with that build properly at range, take huge dumps on LL stalker turretscrubs that aren't on their game, and the only thing that'll actually kill you is yourself via so much poptart leg damage after 1200-1500 pumped out in first 10 mins, assuming it goes attrition and isn't steamroll.

That's how I look at it. That's how I do.

You do you, if it works, work it.



PS - was talkin about CW specifically as a dropdeck opener in that 2nd paragraph

I really don't see the point behind putting them in the arms, losing both actuators, and now having to expose more of the mech.

For an extra punch wep that is about 500+ meters difference in proper ranging...

...and you fire them slightly slower...

...and ammo means less survivability...

...again I'm not trying to be an ass, but, there's a reason I say the build I showed you is like the famous 3D of ancient yore...

Do your thing, I've been dogging on your build for no other reason than I think mines the best cuz it is. I'll stop bugging you now.
