C-Bills Noob Boost

it is too expansive to buy and configure the mechs, if you go on steam this way, people will just uninstall, the amount of c bills we get each match is just riddicolous.
AND THIS IS WHY CW FAILS: TOO MUCH MONEY NEEDED TO CONFIGURE PROPERLY ALL THE MECHS.
and do not answer me that you have trial mechs: those things are just junk.

Talk about the instant gratification generation.
What new players will need is a solid tutorial campaign that will give them enough money for a starter mech. Cadets shouldn't even be allowed in CW. They would only frustrate themselves and whatever team is unlucky enough to get them.

the below statements are rough but not wildly out.
a reasonably equiped mech 8-12 mill c-bills.
4 mechs for a drop deck so 12 needed to master them.
rough 100k per pub drop for new player.
play 10-12 hours per week.
This imagined player could build a drop deck in about 7 months.
Do you expect new players to grind for up to this length of time before they try out what they might consider the prime content of this game.
These are the same rough calcs i do when i start any game. I suspect many do something similar.
(When i started MW:O i recall working out it would take me, i think, 86 matches before i could afford the cheapest Commando)

Not exactly.
There is no 1/1/1/1 requirement (yet)for CW, so a new player that is in a hurry to get to CW could level and upgrade 4 medium 'mechs for much less of a time and C-bill investment.
I agree that the cadet bonus rewards should be about enough to properly outfit a heavy mech, or two light mechs... something along those lines.
I would love to see faction reward incentives that could shorten the grind even further, and add immersion into the game.
But games that are too easy get boring. Once that happens, either players leave, or the game has to introduce new playable content, or (if they are lazy) introduce power creep.
(Not to mention the fact that players have the option to spend real money to cut down the grind)

Averaging about 100K on good games roughly translate to 110 matches before you can earn enough money to buy your next stormcrow.
Cbills in general should be given a boost.. But I guess PGI wants to sell MC and premium time.
Anyway they have the stats and it is a balance of the two.

IF a new player would pay the "normal" single player game price (let´s say its about 50 € to have an even number) to buy new mechs you would have only have 12,000 MC.
Compared to a sp game i would have to spend only once a lot of money to get a compareable Set of mechs. Within Mechwarrior 2 we had 32 missions (so says wiki i don´t remember the number) which means 32 maps...
And so on.
What i want to say is: sp content is much cheaper than playing mwo- and you have no waiting times for matches- so mwo is more than a verry expensive hobby...

Even with Premium time.
What I was hoping this thread would be about, though, would be a 'mentoring' boost, assisting new players and helping them in the game would be really beneficial to the community. You take on a pupil/student, and you receive a c-bill bonus every time there's a marked improvement in his/her matches, and vice-versa. After 25 wins with that person, they are no longer your pupil, though.

If it takes time for the non-supporting player to earn things, the system is working right.

FTP games, if i like the concept i'll download it and play, after 2-4 weeks if it's captured my interest and I'm progressing well I'll fork out some money to support the game and improve my experience.
If i wasn't a Mechwarrior fan, I'm not sure I would spend any money on this game, even though piloting big stompy robots is fun.
MWO doesn't have the content to support a slow grind, I know couple of people that started and quit because of the grind and when seeing the real world cost of buying a mech was so high, just quit instead.
