The problem with boating smaller weapon systems is that you need way more than 6 to be effective. :)

Not really. Streak SRM-2's are a bit unique in this, as if going by the "number of missiles that hit" charts in classic BTech, they had a better chance of "all missiles hitting" than any other system.

So, if you fire a Streak SRM-6, you are looking at 50/50 chances that only 3 of 6 missiles will hit. With 3x Streak SRM-2, you have a better than 50% chance that 2 of 2 missiles will hit per weapon.

Now, if this math will hold true in MWO, or if hardpoints will allow multiple smaller systems in the single hardpoint that a larger system uses, etc. all remains to be determined.

Aerik dont think its that complicated. An arm is a hardpoint, for a commando thats energy in one and missiles in other. Any combo of whatever is then possible as long as weight and locations work. Interesting if you fit 10 tonnes on one arm and 2 in other though!!

I'd like to know where you are getting your info or if it's just wishful thinking, because it directly contradicts what the Devs have posted.

Dev Blog 6 - Mech Lab said:

Each location on a BattleMech, such as the Right Arm or Center Torso, may include a number of hard points. The number of hard points in a given location is determined on a per variant basis, and is based on the weapons included in the variant’s default loadout. For example, a ’Mech that, by default, comes with 2 Medium Lasers and an Autocannon/2 in its Left Torso may actually have 3 energy weapon hard points and 2 ballistic hard points in that location. So, if the player is able to satisfy the weight and critical slot requirements, they could equip an additional energy weapon and ballistic weapon into that Left Torso, or swap out the Medium Lasers for other energy weapons, etc.

While I'd like to try a missile spam boat myself, the only announced mech with more than 2 launchers (and presumably hardpoints) is the Stalker with 4. Of course dropping it's lrm 10s and srm 6s for streak 2s would free up the weight needed to play around with its energy weapons, but I'm not sure 4 streak 2s count as missile spam.
