Good stuff. I've been there before. Vicious build to be the up close target of.

1. Flame - Always seem to come back to my dear old Dragon
2. Adder - After quirks the 2x PPC is actually quite good too
3. Nova - Lot's of fun. Probably better without MGs but less fun
4. Raven-2x - Sneaky, lovely *******...
5. Misery - Sort of mini-atlas with good mounts... love it!

point, missed, but thanks for playing, lol.

This thread reminds me of Point Break... just another remake of something done before... nothing original to see here. Plus should I get long winded on things that may change (hint, some of these mechs sucked pre-quirks)... nah...

Also Mr. DaMan... you might want to re-label your topic... Mechs or Variants?

Well for clan 'mechs it is not always easy to pick a variant, since we have the omnipod system. I guess I will go based off of a combination of ones I have the most drops in due to "pet builds" or if the build is only possible on that CT. I tend to "build" one and then never change it once it is equipped/moduled and named. This is why I have 7-9 of some Clan 'mechs so I have different builds ready to drop at any given moment.

Dire Wolf Prime--sure, I can run the build I have on this on pretty much any DW (but with the DW's pod selection this is true of everything) but this is what I have had the most drops in MWO in and the build has never changed from Day 1 and I have always loved the Dire Wolf, sometimes even rivaling my love of the Timberwolf.

Warhawk A/C--I can't decide here. The way they quirked the CT of the A it is the most mobile now but I still have my favorite/strongest builds on the C chassis with that extra hardpoint. Again, going back to MW2 this has always been a favorite of mine.

Timberwolf Prime--What can I say? My favorite 'mech since 1995. I guess a lot of people would say the C (or now there are two other variants with a CT energy hardpoint--though originally so did the prime way back in the day in the original TRO 3050) for many builds but I have over 600 regular drops (not in some time though--heavy queue is long wait these days) in my Prime that has only ever needed two energy hardpoints and every time I get it in I feel like returning to an old friend.

Hellbringer Prime--This is an MWO specific thing. I never liked the Hellbringer before ( I liked the chicken walker clan heavies, not the man walkers) but in MWO it looks and plays so well. When it was released early that was one of my favorite moments in MWO despite the glitches that came with it because it just looked amazing in my mechbays.

Stormcrow Prime--Another MWO specific thing. I never, ever liked the Stormcrow before. I always thought it was ugly and in MW2 my favorite Medium was the Nova by a long shot and in MW4 I generally skipped from lights straight to heavies since the Nova was not in the game and it was so easy to wreck **** in basically stock Adders. Now in MWO the Stormcrow is so much fun to pilot--fast, responsive, and has a predictable little bob in the way it moves you just get used to. Its looks have grown on me too, especially with a Phranken camo and black/white/red color scheme in a "so ugly it looks good" kind of way.

Honorable mentions go out to:

Gargoyle D
Nova Prime
Ice Ferret D
Adder Prime
Mist Lynx Prime

Jeez, relax dude, was giving you a hard time.

it's pretty well explained in the text of the OP, but hey, you can act all butthurt if you want.

*SMH*.

Guess since you answered, you like going and watching them remakes, too?

runner up - ac20 raven 4x - for a longtime it's been my "having a bad day" mech. No... it's not good... I know that - but it IS fun!

That was my runner up too! Except I believe it can be good.

YLW - because 106 kph AC 20 is crazy and fun. Plus it's a Centy, which makes it a winner in my books. I love having a shield side/arm. Oh and 6 tons of ammo is just silly fun. I shoot at every thing that moves.

TBT - 7M - My one and only LRM boat. However it's not really a LRM boat, I and many others would call it a LRMisher, a LRM skirmisher. Anywhere from 190 m to 500 m, I can land Lrms to who ever needs a hug. Beyond that, I have to re-position.

COM-TDK - This is my crazy fast ML striker. Always fun going backwards faster than most med and some lights can go forwards!

TBT - 7K - Often looked down upon by others for not having enough hardpoints or having gorilla arms, I have made this thing into a monster that kills a lot. Known as the Black Sheep in my hanger, I have done things in this mech that I have never been able to recreate in any other. Carries a single UAC/5, 2 MPL, 2 SRM 4, and an XL 300. One of my favorite go-to mechs even if I don't have as many matches in it as I do the others. I would literally pay to have the Hero Bonus on this mech.

CN9 - D - With an Autoshotty or any other of many off the wall builds, I have managed to always have fun in this mech. For a while I had an ac2, 2ml, and 2 SSRM's and a huge engine for the luls and light killing. Was hilarious. Much fun was had. When the quirks showed up, I put up my first (and only) 1000 dmg game in it with the LB10, 2 ml, and 2 SSRMs build with an XL 300. In terms of damage I have only been able to come close to 1000 in my 7M or my YLW.

All of these mechs, save the 7K, have more than 200 matches in them. I only wish i could pay for hero bonus for the standard variants. Oh and the mech that makes the most money I think, is a tie between the TDK and the YLW. It's not because of the Hero bonus though. I am talking before the hero bonus. If these were standard variants, these would be making almost what I make in my TBT -LG with its hero bonus. I just love their play style and have fun in them. That's what matters the most to me; I have the most fun in these variants.

EDIT: I would like to say that I loved (and still do) these mechs way before quirks were thought about. Was doing good in them then and still having fun in them now!

Oh Bishop...

CPLT-C1(F): 4ML and 2ALRM15's. The true workhorse of LRM sleds.
YLW: AC20, Fast engine, 2ML.Kachinga!
Kintaro Golden Boy: Here, have some LRM's, 5 at a time, for a long time.
Atlas DDC: Look, Im an oversized YLW with SRM's and ECM. Get some!
Zeus 6T: Have some SRM's, 18 at a time. And a PPC to boot. See you at the scorecard.

All in good humor.
I have updated my list (below) to bring it back on topic.

Blackjack – BJ-1DC – I think I like this variant because despite being one of the worst Blackjack variants it also has worst quirks as well. Less Yaw than the jump jet versions, smaller engine that the other non-jumping variants, AC/2 quirks, I mean someone at PGI really doesn’t like this mech. But that is all part of the charm. I have run several builds that I really enjoyed including 2xAC5, AC20+5xSL, 2xERLL+4xML, and currently 3xERLL

Zeus – ZEU-6S – My first Zeus, so it isn’t even unlocked yet, but I am really enjoying it. The model isn’t as imposing as I would like, and the clipping on shoulder is a little sloppy, and the upper arm attachment to the shoulder is in the front instead of the back (giving it a different posture), but these are minor complaints, the chassis is fun to play. I run 2xAC5, 2xLL, LRM15a, TAG

Urbanmech – UM-60 - What is it about those bug-like antennae almost all my favorite mechs have them. I bought this to show my support for IS non-competitive mechs, and I found it is one of the few light mechs I enjoy playing, although I have to admit, 32 KPH is too slow even for me, so I jumped up to a 150 Std with a 2xLL and 4xMG

Wolverine – WVR-6R – my dirty little quirkwhore, I have a always liked the AC5, and few mechs are quirked harder. Nothing fancy here, just 2xAC5 + 3xSSRM2

No 5th currently, this spot is used to rotate in skill-locked chassis for XP grinding (currently Enforcer and Panther)

Yeah, 3 of mine I admit are rocking 170-180s atm. Just rebuilt the Collectors with a 125, so it could pack an ac10 and Mlaser. Not so much the ground speed that was driving me nuts (though 32 kph was) but the torso twist speed. Good golly that was glacial.

Meh. Deputy Dawg sported a 150 from a Valkyrie, so I don't feel too bad, TBH.

I don't know if I'd call them irreplaceable, but lately I've been running:
Novas, Hellbringers, and Warhawks. Why? Because I've struggled with them for the longest time. And now I've developed builds and play styles for each of them that has allowed me to pull all of their Kill/Death ratios up into the positives.

I'm probably one of the few people that bought the Nova C purely for the missile ST, but even before that I've just been addicted to them. Maybe I'm just masochistic. Or maybe I like how you have to be smart about when and how you commit yourself, because if you're not the result is usually becoming a fiery explosion. It is not very forgiving of mistakes.

I've been running the Hellbringers because my gut has told me from the beginning they're good mechs, but I just couldn't get them to work. I tried several builds, but the net result has been a less than positive kill to death ratio. But then I found a build that just clicked, and since then I've pulled those stats out of the gutter.

And that story repeats itself with the Warhawk build I came up with to tackle CW about a week after it was released. Well OK, I was never entirely convinced it was a good mech. Sure, I still have the occasional terribad game where I just get wrecked straight out of the gate, but most of the time even if my side loses, I usually get at least one kill, if not more.

In no particular order:

KGC-000
My go-to mech whenever I want to lay down some dakka. I prefer this mech over my Dragon, Wolverine, Jager, Banshee, Phract, and Direwolf dakka mechs. It's 100 ton of plodding death, with excellent torso twist. (Sometimes I swap the Ultras for regular AC/5's and a bigger engine.)

HBK-4J
My LRM boat of choice. Admittedly, I didn't get on the bandwagon until after the quirkening. My previous favorite LRM boat was the Stalker 5M with 5's and 10's.

BJ-1X
Often overlooked while the enemy focuses on bigger teammates, this little guy can wreck face quickly. I love speedy, peekaboo laser vomit.

FS9-S
My favorite backstabber. If they ever nerf the quirks, I'll drop one laser and add a heatsink or two. The FS9-A and TDK are runners-up, but one lacks range and the other lacks firepower.

SCR-PRIME
My favorite Clanner. (But I prefer IS mechs overall.) It's usually puking laser vomit or streak vomit, depending on my mood, although I did use it as an LRM boat for a while, prior to IS getting nice LRM quirks.

Honorable Mentions
Wang, CDA-2B, FS9-A, BNC-3M, Sparky, Adder, Warhawk, Gargoyle

Oh for me that is easy it is the

1. AS7-S
2. AS7-S build 2
3. AS7-S build 3
4. AS7-S build 4
5. AS7-S flame build.

See the trend
