I'm at work, and didn't have time to check my math...

Without moving to endo steal or XL engine...

Convert LRMs to SRM 6s.
Upgrade Lg Lasers to PPCs
Drop 2 med lasers.
Add remainder (2 tons?) as Heat sinks.

Giving up the long range power for medium/long and insane medium/short hitting power.

Thoughts?

Do they have 4 SRM 6s? I don't remember.

No, they have only two.

But your math is correct.

Brother that mech too slow for SRMs not to mention PPC works like a single shot round. It would be hard to aim and fire onto moving target.
You need decent engine upgrade or that thing will never work.

You're giving up your indirect fire advantage, but twin PPC's is a good main armament. And four SRM 6 racks is a good close-in armament. With Double heat sinks, you have the tonnage to spare to add Artemis Fire Control to each one.

It'd be great if you made it move faster, but a decent loadout.

Same thing I was thinking, though I have to admit, the Stalker has that cool, unstoppable lumber to it.

Faster would be better of course, but without knowing what the cost will be for things like endo and XL, I'm thinking what could be done with lowest tech.

You should listen to this furry ummm...blue eeeh....doggie? Unless you're planning on only using it on an urban map of course.
The PPC's when you find a road that stretches straigh out a long way and the SRM's and MLasers for close range.

The Stalker is one mech I don't think I'm going to change at all. The prime variant is fantastic. I feel that, loadout wise, it is the best pre clan invasion inner sphere mech. It conquers all firing ranges with firepower you can't ignore, and has enough heat sinks to fire those large lasers all day long.

I'm always tempted to modify stock mech designs. But I don't know what I'd do to the Stalker without turning it into another mech. The Thug is a cool mech. PPCs & SRM-6s. But that's not a Stalker.

I do agree, in love the prime and it "all ranges covered" approach. I just love the idea of firing 24 SRMs swarm.

This is a limited situation (close quarters). But That's what OP already told us. But I don't think anyone is going to hold that still on an open road (or open terrrain) :P A good pseudo counter-battery 'Mech if you can locate and close with the indirect fire support.
Problem is, by then your guys may be plastered.

Not bad. Stalker is a great platform for modding.

It's no worse off than a stock Atlas. An atlas has 12 shots at anything further than 270 meters and that's about it, but up close it's murder.

Both mechs are great for modding, and the PPCs of your stalker mod don't run out of ammo.

Fair enough. :)

How about exchanging the engine for an XL (when/if available) and adding some SRM-6 or LrgLas +HS for increased direct fire capability?
