However, Camo black is a solid matt black, that is basically indistinguishable and half the price.
I recommend Camo black.

Hot Rod is pretty similar honestly, I think it might be a touch more matte and not quite as "black black" but largely depends on surface again.
lately, I have been using the Liao(? i think it is that faction) black, as it shows much more matte finish, and has a nice soft look to it compared to obsidian, though it isn't as straight up black.
Each chassis has different texture resolutions(well mostly) and the angles for the lighting and even the surface of itself alters the way black can look on each mech. I would just mess with it in the loadout/mechlab, and decide on what looks best to you. If Liao is not available, check out camo black as mentioned, otherwise I prefer Obsidian over hotrod on most mechs, even though the difference is minute, and may just be a nostalgia bias on my part.

Hell, in this game, it's hard enough to tell whether an enemy mech is painted red or blue if you just move outside of 300-400 meters. Everything looks like a grey-brown-blue, depending on the light and atmosphere on the map in question. On Caustic, everything looks grey-green.
So do yourself a favour and don't spend a lot of MC on expensive premium colours. Of the thousands of people you play with in the course of a month, it's unlikely that more than one or two of them will really get a good look at your actual colours.
What colour is the Jenner in this picture, approximately 150 meters away?

Each to his own. You're basically the only one who gets to see your mech in all its glory (in the Mechlab). But sometimes it good to just get naked, play this song and stare at your own mechs while dancing gently to the hypnotic beats.
Would you play me? I'd play me so hard.

Funny you should say that, cuz...
...vid project I been workin on for April is... Soy's Spring 2015 Camo Collection Fashion Show. So hopefully other people get to see all the super dope threadz I've spent the majority of my account's MC on.
Also, Goodbye Horses is an iconic highwater benchmark for that proto 'big beat' sound at the tail end of 80 Wave ****... pretty slick synth pop if you ask me... it aged well... and the creepiness/corniness hasn't faded a bit... don't hate..!

I'm all about synth wave and I'm not ashamed to say I listened to the whole song, all the way to the end, after linking it in my post. It's a bit raw, corny and melodramatic, but that's the beauty of the 1980's.
Looking forward to your video. Will there be synth music?
