How would you like to see MRM's implemented? (Keep in mind they are traiditionally dumb-fired)

    Percentage of vote: 25.71%

  3. Shotgun-fired, like LBX's. (would need to be a bit faster than SRM's, linear spread starting tight at close ranges and widest at max range, maybe up to 600m range?) (5 votes [14.29%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 14.29%

  4. Other. (please explain in post) (4 votes [11.43%] - View)

You forgot the answer "Sure, in 3058".

I have no doubt we will eventually see MRMs. However, that likely won't be until "3058", whenever that date rolls around.

(Since 3058 is the next logical "jump" for the timeline, I'd expect it in 2-3 years.)

Here's hoping it's all still here in 2-3 years. Don't most MMO's fold in about 3-5 or so?

Where is the official timeline listed?

Also, I'd appreciate if "other" is selected that the "other" feature is explained in a post, so I can possibly implement it into the poll. I most certainly don't have all the bases covered as far as options go (as is obvious from previous posts and modifications to the poll), and appreciate any feedback I can use to make it better.

...I am shocked by the lack of selected "troll answer"s in the poll.

In all seriousness, though, were we to last long enough for the timeline to reach the required dates, I would certainly love to see MRM's enter the game. (In the meantime there are some other in-timeline weapons that could help add some much-needed variety)
There may not be a lot of 'Mechs with enough tubes to fire all 40 from an MRM 40 launcher (I mean, the most we have right now is 20 per hardpoint), but that would still be a considerable amount of firepower against a noob non-moving target. :P (And even sometimes against a moving one, too, if you have God-like aim!)

Official Clock https://mwomercs.com/clock

As for folding within 3-5 years, its possible, but unlikely. IIRC PGI has secured the license for at least 5 more years. I doubt Microsoft would give them that great an extension if they didn't think they could maintain it for at least that long.

I would like to suggest a different possibility for the implementation of MRMs: Ripple fire.

Clan LRMs are a stream firing weapon, while SRMs and IS LRMs fire in a cluster... however... When you have an IS mech that does not support the number of missile tubes for the launcher you are mounting, it fires several clusters, once after another...

My idea is to combine the 2 ideas or the clan LRMs and IS LRMs without enough tubes... therefore an MRM 20 would release 4 streams of missiles simultaneously until totaling 20 missiles fired before CD timer begins, so 4 streams of 5 missiles for 20, for 30 it could be 5 streams of 6, etc.

This offsets the possibility of using the missiles as a shotgun blast point blank to do 20,30, or 40 damage to your target, but allows for a pilot to torso twist and spread some of the damage... think of it as a laser's burn time, only with missiles!

I like the idea of ripple-fire streams for MRMs.

And I figure that with a range of 450 M, their velocity could be in the range of maybe 650 m/s to 950 m/s, (but would need testing at any rate).

And since I vaguely recall five missiles were grouped per hit, maybe start at that value for the ripple-fire style of the missile streams. With the streams in a semi-rectangular to square pattern (and I wonder which would be better, expanding horizontal or vertical?).

MRM-10 | two streams of five missiles - one stack : (over / under pattern)

MRM-20 | four streams of five missiles - two stacked ::

MRM-30 | six streams of five missiles - three stacked :::

MRM-40 | eight streams of five missiles - four stacked ::::

If I remember right, while mrms were not guided, they had good damage. To work, I think they should work similar to lrms, but less range, no minimum range, and no locking, but high amount of damage.

Mrms, IMO. Should be firing the same way clan lrms do now
In contrast, when clan ATMS are introduced, they should be firing in groups of 3, slightly similar to lrms.

As for people arguing timeline issues, PGI has already states their plans for a timeline advancement to 3060+(meaning 3060-and up going forward) come june.
That means....
Heavy gauss,
Heavy PPC
Snub-nose PPC
Heavy lasers
MrMs
ATMS
HAG
Plasma cannons and rifles
Null signature systems
New engines
Reactive and reflective armor
Hopefully artillery weapons
Bombast laser
Blazar Cannons
Laser AMS
Rotary ACS
ac and s-srm variants for IS
X-Pulse lasers
Light and hyper ac's
Mech mortars.

3060 and up introduces a MASSIVE number of weapons and equipment to the possible horizon.
Lets be hopeful.
