You can't tell me that the Dragon Flame isn't a standing joke at PGI.

For real money they expect you to buy this mech? As is? they are kidding right?

You can put an AC20 in the torso. I don't believe any other Dragon will allow you to do that.

I own one. But I like dragons, and it used to be more useful.

I have both the Flame and the Fang. Neither is a competitive mech, neither is going to carry a game for the team.

Both are a hoot to pilot.

But I'm biased because the Dragon is possibly my favourite chassis. They don't play so well now that TTK has dropped massively due to quirks but meh.

It has a fantastic high-ballistic mount point in the LT, and functions VERY well as a 60-ton hunchback. I use it extensively in CW with an XL300, Gauss w/ 75 rounds, AMS, and 4xML. Very good mech, imo. The extra structure for your giant nose helps a lot for protecting your squishy ballistic torso.

It's like a heavy HBK-4G without the hunch. That LT ballistic is extremely high and you can do some ridiculous hillhumping with it. Due to this it was considered the best DRG before the quirks made the 1N ridiculous.

fast moving AC20 with 4MLs is a nice 40 point alpha.

its better than fang..

next to the 1N it is my next favorite dragon.

Could use some better hardpoints overall
Missile in the middle could be moved to the shoulder or just give the left shoulder a ballistic point.

Two UAC5s and two ER LL would be pretty good on a dragon.

Actually, the Flame was my most recent purchase. I enjoy my dragons, as my Dragon 1C was the first mech I purchased, so long ago.

Not all mechs are acquired solely to obtain the most competitive edge. For me, the Flame behaves much like my 1C, with a C-Bill bonus.

If there is any joke, it's that the Dragon Hero mech is actually... "Double Dragon"[s]

XL350 + endo + ferro + gauss + 4 ML:s

DOOO EEEET

i had no problems breaking 800 damage before the quirkening in those setups.

Endo and Ferro Ac20 and 4MLs 295std

If you think this guy is in bad shape look at the Fang only 3 Energy and 2 Ballistic (1 missile that isn't used).

Both of these mechs should get hardpoint inflation to help make them relevant.

Dragons are a fun mech, fast with firepower and enough armour to survive 1 or 2 mistakes. I think the others have better ballistic hardpoints, they have the best arm movement in the game so a ballistic in the torso, i dont know.
I like running the flame with 4 large lasers, xl300, endo and make up the rest with heat sinks. Energy quirks for this mech would make it a bit better.

Yeah, a Gauss and 4ML with a large XL does the trick for me. I still run it on occasion and manage to put up some decent numbers. Never did much like the AC20 build, but many people do. I used to have a lot of fun with 4LL build, but ghost heat ruined that one.

Best thing about Dragons though is the HOOD! Wish I could mount shiny statue on it.

the Fang is WAY worse. was good with the old LPL quirks. now it's utter sh*t like it ever been... funny how the 1N is one of the best mechs out there and the Fang one of the worst.. and that's just about 2 quirk rows making the difference.

It could definately use a lil bit better ballistics quirks... Not much, but a lil. It's nice that it got -10% heat gen, but it's no point quirking low slung E hardpoints. What it needs is a better cooldown quirk for the shoulder ballistics mount.

I have no idea why it was dubbed as Tier 3 from the start, imo it was a solid Tier 4 together with the 1C. I guess because asymmetric Gauss+2xLL but I don't know if that is really better than asymmetric 4x E hardpoints of the DRG-1C, of which 2 are on that excellent shoulder mount.

Really, all Dragons have sub par quirks except the 1N. Especially the 5N is just all wrong.

I'd like to see the Flame get the Fang's energy quirks. An extra 5% shouldn't make it OP.

As for the 5N, I'd like to see it get a matching negative heat gen to the rest of it's laser quirks, and drop that UAC jam chance to 50%. It cannot mount more than one.

or even better, give it proper AC/2 cooldown/heat quirks, it's the AC/2 Dragon! Since we got rid of AC/2 ghost heat there is no reason why it shouldn't get AC/2 quirks (don't say the L-word!). :)

LOL. The only way you could make a single AC2 viable is to make it fire so fast that it kicks in ghost heat thinking you are firing more than 2 at the same time.

Need to give the devs some baby step ideas. Right now, you would be better off taking a Thunderbolt for just 5 tons more. I'd love to run an all Dragon drop deck one day.
