How widespread is it?, not likely to be very widespread, the issue that will hurt most is where in the playerbase.

Usually deniers are the offenders because if they can get enough rabble up in arms that it cant possibly happen then ppl will let it drop and they wont get their avdantage removed. This is true for anything in the game that someone else doesnt want removed lol
maybe he's psychic? That seems more probable than hacking, right deniers?
Ya I seen in other games some who get banned call foul and make a big deal about saying it was wrongfull etc. Maybe the deny tactic is starting early?
I have no idea what the situation is in this game even after this topic and others, but I know enough not to say theres no hax going on. Have to wait and see.

Frankly, I think it's less deniers and more egos dictating that a loss was due to someone cheating.
Egos very much, I've seen people, even unit lancemates, get PO'ed for the rest of our teammates acting like a bunch of newbies.... but that's pugs for ya :/

People who want to kill 'mechs quickly and not strip 500 points of armor/structure off something before they kill it.
Just an amusing thought, but his question was why use and aimbot when you have streaks, and you noted that it would be people wanting quick kills without stripping large amounts of armor/structure first... So if that is the case a lot of the accusations in here point to games where there were people getting large amounts of kills and damage but that seems counter to the quick kills without stripping line of thought you gave as reason to use an aimbot. So were those players with high damage being falsely accused while the real culprits get away with it, or are we all just better off going streaking?

Not only that, but aiming in this game is as simple as "Pointing and clicking." Even Call of Duty requires more than just pointing and clicking... and that's kinda saying something as CoD is as dumbed down as shooters get any more. "Press F to care."
It's like Dora the Explorer. You can make it look cool, enhance the graphics, but ultimately it's the same exact thing. "Can you see Swiper? Where do you see Swiper? Can you click on Swiper."
Seriously how long is the guy gonna stand there after being spotted?

I could not possibly care less about the accusations flying around--surely some people will be falsely accused for having good games now that this is out in the open but the only proof will be who gets banned when they get this figured out.
Since you watched with no audio you missed a lot of info about how the aim assist is tunable to look like anything from obvious cheating (poor optimization) to completely benign (great optimization) and that is what matters. People doing it well may not even be generating ANY heat on them whatsoever.

At this point no one in this topic knows. One thing is for sure they do catch the cheats. Can bet on it. Anyone who has spent money on this hobby shouldnt even consider using cheats. No fear tactic either.

Because it literally says posting info about hacks or cheats is bannable in the rules? Unless theyre not following those anymore
That reminds me of a guy who got banned from EVE for torturing a guy who could have logged off at any time
No info has been posted. The video I linked shows that they exist, not how to use them or where to get them.

I found Rhent's reference. Not linked but easily found. It is largely educational and references the only two straight hacks to have ever existed in MWO, using images showing a development build of MWO from 2012 which according to Developers on a slight reference in an NGNG podcast, only the see-through-walls thing ever actually existed (and not the aimbot). It was the one in which they removed the FPS counter with the "Location Data" display for a single patch. Said action was done to remove the fact that it actually broadcasted coordinate data on all players at all times, even if it wasn't directly displayed. Removing it, of course, debunked the "ESP" through-wall-see-'ems hack.
Besides we have Seismic Sensors, if you're gonna cheat do it legitimately with the game's already provided tools.
It has a link that leads to a pay-scheme thing which, after getting around that and matter of factly, has no available cheats for MWO and suggests using SweetFX + a specially encoded ENB to do things like remove fog. Humorously, it also suggests copy/pasting the specular file from Crysis 3's SDK in your MWO folder, to make all 'Mechs sparkle like mirrors in sunlight so you can see them easier. It's also great for causing seizures, being temporarily blinded and overheating your graphics card. The last 'cheat' posted is also dated in early 2013 and crossed off as 'temporarily broken'.
Such are not necessarily 'hacks' but instead deliberately screwing up your graphics to get an edge at the risk of an unstable game-- which is a pitiful low but ultimately doesn't involve "I have god mode" or "I can hit anything anywhere."
This is one of the few games that doesn't have meaningful hacks. I'd like it to stay that way.

You might want to go back a few pages and check out the video.

No offense dude, but can you please refrain from commenting until you have watched the whole video with sound on?
Why? All I said is if it was also being used as an example of an aimbot it wasn't very good. I was then told you could adjust it to compensate for speed by tuning it, and at that point I requested to see another video showing in use while tuned. Somehow I doubt I am missing out on much by not being able to hear what I am sure is incredibly insightful information from captain hoody.
