I just had a game on Forest Colony. Apparently, I killed a teammate from the distance (it´s so crowded these days). :(

I only noticed this at the end of the game. So I couldnt apologize, since I don´t even know who exactly I killed.

Whoever reads this and is still angry about being shot in the back: I´m sorry!! ;)

I think this was my first teamkill in MWO and I sure hope it was the last. We need a real lobby though, so that these things can be sorted out after the game.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless it was one of those intentional troll kills at the beginning of a game most people know it gets hectic and are rather forgiving. But kudos to you for attempting to make amends.

LOL

Well, I know this kinda sh*t happens. I just feel uncomfortable when I can´t apologize because I think this is common courtesy (do you spell it like that?).

In combat, there is bound to always be friendly fire when not on a comm's and working out troop movements on the fly. So, don't worry too much about it!

There is a big difference between friendly fire and Team Killing.

One is just unfortunately part of battle and the other should have the player strapped to the front on my mechs as extra armor.

I hate it when you start on a map and then find someone testing their weapons while you are in front of them and you lose armor when they hit you in the back.

Had my Commando lose a leg with an alpha strike from an Atlas. He was only testing out his setup.

I think that is called: Lacking fore-knowledge of a specific area they can test out their setups. Called the TESTING GROUNDS. XD

I can relate brotha.

I was just playing a match and i saw a Victor walking along.

My game didn't show his blue thing over his head, and i didn't look at my battlegrid, so, mistaking him for an enemy, i promptly shot him with my Medium Pulse Lasers, and he was in such bad condition he died.

i would be cool if your cross hairs turned a different color when hitting a friendly. some times its hard to see and you all you can make out is the target box and you're getting hits... but you don't realize a teammate is between you and your target and you're killing him instead.

Hmmmm, maybe have friendly fire lockouts so that your weapons won't fire if a teammate is detected in you targeting box/crosshairs?

I agree. My teamkill was in fact due to friendly fire in a crowded combat situation. I do not "test" my loadout with friendly players in range, since I totally hate that too. Thats just people that don´t pay attention.

Different colored crosshairs would be nice. I wouldnt want a weapons lockout though, since that would take away some of that simulation feeling. Friendly fire can happen. It´s just that I was feeling bad because I couldn´t apologize.

Hey, last time I had a teamkill happen I apologized. Still think it was his own fault for dashing in front of the assault mech who had AC/s blazing though. The split-second between click and fire on the AC/20 is just long enough for a catapult to step the wrong way into the line of fire.

I had a TK the other day, with MGs when someone walked into my line of fire...less than 2 seconds and he died.

I couldn't even apologise, since the chat box broke. I felt bad after that.

The only time I take friendly fire personally is when people are 'testing' their weapons at the start of a match. My Raven was legged by a gauss rifle round before I had even taken a step the other day. He claimed that I ran in front of him.

The time I took about 100 lrms to the face because I was too close to an enemy mech? That's totally my bad.

I can relate. I'm a pro player and still screw up sometimes.

I alpha'd 6 srm 6's right into a commando turning a corner thinking it was the enemy. So glad I didn't take him out, but I probably led to his demise.

Dude if you would of killed me in this game from a distance I would forgive you. I mean crap happens. I seen people spawn and get shot by duel ac20's right from the start by his own team mate. Then it turns out where everyone is shooting each other and those games suck. I do agree these maps are to crowed and they need to make the maps bigger for 12 vs 12. And hopefully they will look into this.

I personally like that friendly fire is on. It adds to the world of what Mechs are about. If we have a bunch of things like FF lockout when your crosshairs are on friendlies or immunity to same team weapons, it would (imho) cheapen the experience a bit.

Most people don't troll enough with FF to be a problem and part of the chaos is having to identify and react with 23 other mechs running into the fray.

The start of match PPC fest is annoying but not a large enough part of the match to warrant a change. (Again, imho)

I have swept a light with medium lasers as they ran between my stalker and an enemy atlas. It happens and I apologize quickly but I enjoy that element of "warfare" in this universe :P

Pleasant thread with no anger, I like it. *offers everyone tea*

Bout an hour or so ago...

The ONE TIME Spider hit detection works...my AC20 heading towards a wounded Jagermech, insta-kills a friendly Spider crossing between us.

D'oh.
