You read a lot of complaints on these forums about 12 man pre-mades ROFL stomping, normally countered by an argument that these pre-mades don't really like this and how what they really prefer is a competitive match.

This simple feature suggestion could be applied to both the Group Queue and CW.

All it takes is a Tick Box in the UI next to Launch Game somewhere where the group leader can select "Competitive Only."

If selected the MM immediately narrows the selection of matches to just those groups with this selected.

These teams might have to wait a little longer* at some times but:

1. CW/Group queue would instantly become a little more friendly to casual groups/pugs.
2. Truly competitive teams would get the challenge they claim they want.

*Maybe a competitive team indicator might be available to show how many active teams have this selected.

Or, you know... just tune the matchmaker so that it separates people better.

Because the issue with your proposition is it cuts the playerbase in half. The group queue is already problematic because it has to play Tetris with the group sizes AND factor in Elo AND try to uphold the 3/3/3/3 to the best of its ability. It doesn't work as well as it should because we don't exactly have 500,000 concurrent players bolstering the queues.

Not half I think, not even remotely. Around 1/8th of the player base (normally) play CW - which I'm sure you'd agree has a higher percentage of "competitive" teams than group queue.

The skill gulf between two Competitive teams is far less than that between them and a casual team so ELO maths is far simpler = faster.

And wait times in the group queue are rarely an issue, I play daily in a team lance, and we typically wait less than 2 minutes for a game. I don't know the numbers, PGI does, but I'd guess that sticking the "competitive" teams in a Silo for group queue would only increase wait times by another minute or two.

And for CW it might be no different - given the high proportion of competitive teams already there, taking them into a separate queue might even make matchmaking faster for smaller/casual/PUG teams who would spend less time getting "trumped" by big pre-mades (essential if to retain players in this mode). Comp teams might wait longer - but if they really want that "challenge" (which they say they do) then maybe it would be worth it for them.

We need *something* to change - I've been playing this game a long, long time and really want to play it for years to come but the reality is that the player base is in two parts - and we should face reality.
