First of all, kudos to PGI (Alex Iglesias) for the work on the Black Knight. It looks absolutely amazing. Really good compromise between the MWO style, the original and the modern versions I've seen in various artwork.

Spoiler

I'm a bit worried though. Concerned™, you might say. Because this reminds me of when I saw the artwork for the Quickdraw. The Quickdraw was standing upright in the concept art with straight legs and it also looked amazing. When I saw it, I thought "Yes! That will be my next heavy mech!"

Spoiler

But then I saw the in-game model. And because of some animation concerns, PGI made its knees bent, like it's about to take little poop. Pardon my language. But it's always standing with its knees bent and it looks a lot more stocky than in the beautiful artwork. And if you use the jump jets, then it really squats down like it's about to take a massive... well, you know.

Same problem with Commando, really. Looks beautiful in the artwork, but way too squat in the game. On a positive note, they got it right with the Griffin, which was fairly straight in the concept art and also stands quite tall in the game.

TL;DR: Some mechs, like the Black Knight and the Mauler, look beautiful when they're standing with straight legs. Please try to make the in-game animations so that the walk cycle look good and the Black Knight can still stand with straight legs. Maybe even walk with relatively straight legs, instead of bending their knees and squatting too much.

Sorry, I know this is a very minor, specific issue. We all have our pet peeves. :D

Squat? If you look at the chest plate, it seems to have some similar shapes from the Grasshopper's...so expect another heavy that's bigger than most assaults, while also not being nearly as skinny as the Hopper.

Although I'm not quite sure about your line of reasoning, I wouldn't mind that very much. I pick my mechs because they look good first and foremost. The Awesome is way too huge for an 80 ton mech, but it looks good, so I play it.

The knight will likely look pretty similar to the grasshopper, like Fup says.

I do appreciate the historical cataphract full armor look, but 60 dollars for the pack, or 35 for just the black knights...and if you don't grab, it's a 5 month wait time for them to arrive by c-bills.

Can't say I'm all that thrilled.

The mech packs keep speeding up.

16 IS mechs for 80 is tempting.

Buuuut, the grasshopper was so dissappointing...

Oh, I'll wait. I'm not buying it either. I'm happy to see the Wolfhound and Mauler in the game (because MAH HOMEPLANET), but I'm not paying for them. I've spent too much already. Already bought the Shadow Cat pack, because I've waited so long for that one.

But I've got 3 light mech, 3 medium mech and 3 assault mech chassis that I like, but only 2 heavy mech chassis. So I'm hoping the Black Knight will complete my collection, whenever it's available for C-bills.

I'm referring to the slanted "pectorals" part. The BK has some armor and doodads on top of it, but the crested chest is still visible.

I thought the Black Knight was supposed to have ECM? Disappointing.

That's a 3060 model I believe.

Heh, true dat. But it sure as hell skipped every stretching session, because it can't even straighten its damn legs properly. :)

Kind of off topic but what is the deal with the modelers making Alex's artwork into these bloated versions they nearly always produce. The Zeus, Grasshopper and Panther are the first mechs I've felt that didn't wind up eating a few cheeseburgers before we got them.

I'd really like for a few older mechs to go through an art pass. The Awesome and Quickdraw amongst those. Poor fat kids.

WTF OP, the problem with the Quickdraw isn't its bent legs. I'll give you a hint what its real problem is: it's a 60 ton mech trapped in an 85 ton mechs body.
