I don't want to hate on the little guy. It's just...thanks to the way the Mechlab is implemented, the basic Wolfhound Chassis will do exactly nothing that the Firestarter already can't...and that the FS9 does better since it has more hardpoints in most cases, AND JJs.

This is not a DoA QQ, or hating on the Wolfy, just a statement of fact. Obviously Quirks will have to be what separates it, but just HOW or What do you think will need to be done to give it a legit niche (since it was supposed to be the premier hunter/brawler Light mech in Btech).

Don't think it'll be FS9 level but it'll likely beat out the panther

well, at least it would fulfil it's lore role, I suppose.

They shouldn't give it better quirks than the Firestarter since those are already extremely good. That doesn't leave them a lot of room. They could give it similar weapon quirks and then give it agility quirks on top of that since it has no JJs - basically the medium laser/large laser/pulse laser version of the Panther.

Having ECM.

Same with the black knight.

The way they both are, they're largely pointless. Black knight has some small utility in that it's a 75 tonner competing with the trash orion. That alone makes it at least a contender. Wolfhound is just trash.

I think of it like a karate man headswap (Ryu, Ken, Akuma, etc) of the panther, except it's not the Ryu equivalent to the panther's Ken, but more like Dan Hibiki. Waste of money to grab deal it.

LOL If I played more fighting games, maybe I would get your analogy. I know who Ryu, Ken, and Akuma are, but what the heck is a Dan Hibiki?

The Inner Sphere lights will "ALWAYS" be better then the Clan lights.

If not then it's Lights "F"ing OUT for the Inner Sphere. (pun intended)
You think PGI is gonna let that happen..???

A joke character karate man with no benefits over other karate men. He in fact lacks compared to every other karate man ever made.

He's Capcom's parody of SNK's Ryo, who's SNK's version of Capcom's Ryu.

Or some straight up heat gen quirks. But I don't like all the weapon quirks too many mechs have. One thing though, it can't boat like a FS9, so it can get away, potentially with similar levels, without being as broken. Especially if it's hitreg isn't as wonky (and minus JJs, that should be a given)

I look at it this way, I wanted the Mauler and the Crab, 4 of each is worth the money so the Black Knight and Wolfhound were freebies X8. Freebies that came with mechbays.

No, locusts are more like DJ. Everybody knows they're bad, and anyone who claims they're good is doing some obvious trolling.

It lacks many things that may distinguish it from the Firestarter and Panther except for its distinct lack of jump jets. Perhaps quirks reflecting its reputation for durability and some heat generation quirks? I do not really know.

I do know they need to ditch the brick head before they release it. Really, it was awful in the TRO art with the 4th Succession War art being the only really decent early one that actually looked predatory.

Arctic Cheetah. Unless they completely ruin the hitboxes, your statement is laughably incorrect.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolfhound has ridiculous SPL/SL quirks. It would certainly fit well with the hunter/brawler theme. If not, then it's just going to be an inferior Firestarter. So it will be business as usual for light mechs. Take a FS9 or gimp yourself intentionally. Fun, right?

First, Bishop can you please re-pledge to Steiner. It doesn't feel right reading your posts without the Blue Fist.
That aside, this Mech will need some mobility quirks, to behave kinda like a Hybrid Locust/Commando I think to make it different enough.

I still think it will work.

Im hoping they give it Raven 2X-esque quirks, I miss the MW4 days of 3 LL Wolfhounds being super awesome, it's just too bad that they havn't given Standard Engines enough of a benefit to be worth mounting on a light.
