Please no LRM Assaults. I need the assaults on the front line tanking, not hiding behind rocks firing sticks at other rocks.

If you want a LRM boat, ask for a mobile medium with good LRM quirks. Loup-de-querre would be the perfect LRM Hero if it had the quirks for it. A medium mech does not waste tonnage or armour too much, and is mobile enough to seek proper firing psotions where it can actually hit some targets every now and then.

We already got plenty of Assaults built for the "frontline tanking". I am only asking for one Assault Hero with good LRM capacity. Hardly excessive. Heck, the quirks can be generic missile quirk for all I care; I am still gonna kick ass.

I hate it when people think Assaults are only for taking damage. When built right, an Assault can also be used to deal incredible amount of damage. Such mech have no business being in the front--like the Whale, or 1S, or 8R.

Besides, Lights "tank" much much better than the Assaults ATM.

Well yeah anything with more than 1 extra large missile pod is instantly a missile *****. Look at the Vulture or the Catapult....

Group queues have a limit of 4 assaults per team and CW has a 240-250 ton limit on what you can bring. All of those assaults are desperately needed, and once just one of them stands back, the enemy team is likely to roll over you with 4 assaults to your 3.

I really do not want to see more timid people hiding in excessively heavy mechs behind the lines while the rest of the team dies fighting outnumbered.

1. Anything can work in pugs.

2. Mauler is not CW optimal in the first place.

3. I have positive WLR with all my LRM Assaults, I do my part in bringing the team victory.

That only makes any sense if the the assault pilot isn't contributing to the fight. Bad lurm boaters might do that, but so do many assault brawlers hoping their team will take the damage so they can finish off the damaged enemy and get a good personal score.

A good lurm assault might not be right at the front, but he will be absolutely hulk smashing opponents who venture into the open to shoot at your team and he'll keep your enemy suppressed like nothing else.

A team under that sort of support fire isn't rolling over anything, and a pilot like Bandito often does far more to win matches than a brawler would. He's bringing the same huge firepower of an assault to far more of the battlefield, and making it more useful.

I like your suggestion.

I have maximised my AWS-8R with LRM15s + quirks to great effects to teach straggling PUG Assaults not to be overly exposed out in the open.

I have used the jump jets on the trebuchet-7M to get into great positions to deliver volleys of LRMs.

I nicknames one of my Warhawks "Viking" and reproduced that iconic of an FRR mech with its twin LRM 20 and twin LRM 15 racks.

An assault hero that can wreck terrible damage with LRM20 x 4 would be appreciated.

At least, with all the laser vomit, there is some silver lining.

BTW, to OP, please use a better title next time.

You will not get a HERO MECH with the MECH PACK, they release PRIME (I) or ® variants and they have the same bonus'.

Just because it isn't under the HERO tab means its not for you huh? :P

Not true, there's hero versions of all the Founder's mechs. No reason there won't be Hero versions of other similar mechs that do not have one yet.

Hmm I'm on the fence with regards to assault mechs mounting LRMs. Outside of a very few such as the Longbow, which I can't imagine we'll see in MWO, they're generally a VERY bad idea for a plethora of reasons others have explained. In the hands of a skilled pilot such as El Bandito they can be fearsome, but they tend to be unforgiving even compared to other assault mechs and my fear would be that it would encourage more assaults standing at the back trying to hit stuff with never-ending streams of badly aimed LRM-spam.

For the sake of diversity I suppose we could do with one well-designed LRM assault...
