Forgive my ignorance, but what does CW "beta 2" mean?

In my maybe naive understanding, such a prominent addon implies something like a significant next phase or significant new features or something like that.
But to me, "beta 2" seems to be exactely like "beta"(1).

Or is it so that the initial beta(1) developed enough to justify it now being called "2"? In retrospect, so to say.

Or does it simply indicate the map-reset generation?

I already read russ talking about moving to "beta 3". That was even a few weeks back.

beta is beta ... maybe phase 2 ? But then where is the announcement of the new features or alterations?
Maybe it is just a gimmick for when they get to steam?

Heard of pre-alpha , alpha , beta and then release (and of course the closed and open variants) , But in over 35 years of gaming and game testing never heard of a beta 2! Maybe it's a reset of beta?

During the CW event prior to the Battle of Tukayyid PGI found a bug with the CW drop mode selection that meant the planet capture mechanic was fundamentally broken and the results didn't match what should have happened so they decided to reset the map.

PGI fixed the bug, and implemented it in the Battle of Tukayyid as a test prior to doing the reset to verify it worked as expected. Beta 2 is just Beta 1 with the drop mode selection fixed.

Beta 2 simply means they played through a complete season of CW and are moving into the second season....and it's still in Beta. Don't expect a whole lot of changes to it in the very near future.

Hahaha "PGI found a bug", most CW playing players found that in the first two weeks of CW and many posted about it.

I was wondering the same thing about this Beta 2

Ive been gaming a long time and have seen lots of Beta tests. I have even been involved in some Beta testing myself. Its not unusual at all to see different phases of Beta or Alpha tests.

But they generally add something to be tested. There is something different about the Beta program. Its expanded upon somehow which is why it would be called the next phase. Even if its just a new way of queing they want to test out.

But CW Beta 2 looks to be exactly like CW Beta 1. Im not sure whats going to be different about it that could qualify it as the next phase. What are they testing that makes it different from what they have already been testing?

Im not mad about it or anything like that. Generally I dont even participate in CW so its not a big deal to me. Just seems curious,

Now it would be REALLY interesting if Beta 2 meant the Clans invaded Marik, Liao & Davion first.
