So basically, an Omni-Mech.

I used to have this "all-arounder" build I loved to to play.

For long range it had UAC 5s and PPCs, and I could use the PPCs more because heat wasn't life threatening and it allowed me to conserve ammo.

At mid-range it really came into it's own, and I could bring to bear the full weight of all of my weapons into a target.

Then at close range, I would slow down on the PPC usuage and begin to heavily utilize the UAC 5 "double fire" feature, allowing for low heat DPS when needed.

That maximized my build, I took advantage of my heat capacity but had solid output when I was running too hot.

It was effective on pretty much every map and game mode - it was the quintessential all-rounder.

Unfortunately this game's playerbase is loaded with crybabies.
Their special snowflake disaster builds couldn't stand up to that.

So ACs were nerfed, and had their 3x Optimal range removed.

And PPCs were nerfed, they had their speed neutered.

Also the best platforms for those builds had their JJs nerfed, and their torso twist speeds nerfed.

To make matters worse, all of the Autocannon haters and PPC haters finally got their wish - lasers were more important to the game and the meta and now everyone uses them.

Some of those same crybabies can now be found complaining about lasers.

This is based on a true story, and the moral is that you should not capitulate to whiners and crybabies who don't actually understand game balance, and who don't even understand that both AC/PPC builds and all laser builds are in fact "all-rounders".

It's just not the all-rounders that they want to play, so basically the rest of us are "having fun wrong".

I called it back in CB that PGI didn't have the spine to develop.

And a lot of them are incredibly hostile about people "having fun the wrong way" that they even give death threats to you or tell you to commit suicide while in TeamSpeak with them.

Or people can play for fun, think for themselves... sorry but a good half the stuff on that site I wouldn't play for anything, and most of the rest is just flat out cookie cutter boring.

Well there are some things to consider that would be helpful if new players read this so I will mention them for that reason.

First this is people have to decide what they are looking for in the game and whats important. And more importantly for new players need to understand how the advice they are getting relates to that.

For example if a new player or any player asks for advice on builds or what works best answers are related to the goals of the person giving answers. If the main goal is to win then you bring different builds than if you main goal is to play in another way you like more. That does not mean that you will never win but your Elo will just tend tostabilize in a spot where you get wins with those builds. Nothing at all wrong with that but many players and importantly new players do know what kind of advice they are getting.

Also I am not suggesting your ideas are even bad ideas but just related to how you want to play where style of play is more important than over all winning. But that has a cap on it because at some point you hit teams/players with the same talent but better mechs/builds and you dont advance in your Elo any longer.

Any way the nice thing is that the Elo will even out for any way people want to play. The only people it does not even out for are the very best players playing mainly with other top players. They will always having a higher sustained W/L ratio.

So again Bishop not saying you are wrong or giving bad advice just that it directly related to how you want to play. And all games have several player types that are all valid. :)
