So you build a mech against Light mechs and nothing else? Where the Firestarter touched you?
lol, do you run around in this game yelling "1v1 me bro"?
I love when people are like "yeah that streak is bad against a DWF"
No ****. Thats why you add support fire to your buddies twin gauss. Chain fire, to manage heat and obscure vision, etc.
I ran a streak summoner. 6 launchers if i recall. Anything under 65 tons I won because the summoner can tank like a boss when you have ZERO FACETIME. Maintaining a lock is cake, and then you just shoot the SSRM sideways at your foe while they blast lasers into your arm. Anything bigger you just get a buddy, and then let the random number target forumal draw straws until two or 3 launchers all hit that exposed section. Then you reap the profits of your stupid high dmg count, the kill count from assploding light mechs, and oogabooga component destruction counts.
its not a well rounded loadout, but it functions just as well as other niche things like PPC boat loadouts with min range and bad brawling heat, dakka boats that get massacred by circling lights, etc. it is just another flavor of "not laser meta". Sure some laser puke mech will out do it many times, but those are "well rounded" in that the risk of an engagement is static as you exchange fire with your enemy. A FS9 can stick you enough times at close range(because HSR wigs out with lights at sub 100M) to be nearly an equal threat to mediums and heavy in the right circumstances. Assault mechs can put a big hurt, but are easier to avoid.
Now contrast that with a SSRM boat. The risk is not static, it is a mega sloped sliding scale of 20 tons= LULZ, 100 tons= oh ****. its a different beastie, and has it's own strengths and weaknesses like all the other one off, non-diversified loadouts.
But thats not here nor there, SSRM Crow is a waste. 5-6 MPL and DHS up the wazoo to fill tonnage FTW. 40-48 point alpha strike with perfect convergence by skipping useless lower arm actuators(and hand) because the torso twist rate is like playing a commando. Awesome hitbox and ultra easy to spread dmg because of that CoD style torso twist speed. Faster then pretty much any IS medium that hasnt given up lots of tonnage for a big XL(and isnt a cicada) while being able to keep a substantial payload.
Crows are EZ mode. other mechs can perform just as well, when you put in the effort. thats the point. Crows don't require the effort. Cadets can get 200+ dmg. Players online Friday night drunk out of their mind can get 300 dmg. I can get 300 dmg while watching TV. (I did that while watching the WI Badgers during march madness). All you gotta do is glance at the radar once in a while and see where the blue and red doritos are and point and click at the red guys. The mech pilots itself otherwise.
